Hey everyone,

My name is Kyle and I live in Centerton, Arkansas. I recently purchased a 2016 Oxford white GT premium 6spd with the performance pack. I've put around 1,500 miles on the car since I got it...... I love it!. Pretty excited for some mods down the road but for now I'm enjoying it as is. Before this car I had a 2007 Acura TL type s. Loved that car and miss it dearly. My last project car I had for 12 years. It was a 1994 Honda Accord 2 door. I swapped in a Jdm h22, ported the head, upgraded valve train to skunk2 pro1 cams, flat stainless valves, blacktrax intake, ported euro r tb, hytech rep header, mfactory lsd, ground control coil overs with skunk 2 springs and a host of things I'm forgetting. The car made 240hp on motor and was a blast to drive. I'm definitely not new to the car scene but I'm happy to be part of a new group.

Howdy folks, new here but not new to forums.
I just purchased a 2016 Ecoboost Premium pp a week ago and figured I would join to see what I could learn.

I am in the process of shopping for a 16 or 17 GT premium. Can any current owners give me some feedback on whether the 401A option package with the Shaker Audio, drivers side seat/mirror settings/ and blind spot detection is worth it? I have the option of either, but cannot decide if the extra $ is worth it...

Depends on if all those features are important to you.

For me, the most important features were the 5L, 6 speed and the performance pack. I figured my exhaust would out sing the audio package so I went for the base and spent all the extra $$$ on mods.

Do what makes you happy. It's a great platform either way you go.

Thanks for the input. I am currently looking at Koons in VA and they have several Ruby Red (my color choice now) in stock... I just don't know if the 401A packages is worth the extra $.. some say the sound system is great, others have said it is not that much different.. I have other say that the blind spot detection really helps because of the small rear view mirrors on the stang... I do have other mods I want to add, but want to be sure about the 401A pkgs so I can eliminate that if needed....Even if I custom ordered I would want to know if the 401A is worth the extra....

No probs, Welcome BTW.

If you plan on doing any upgrade to the rear valance, the premium package might be the way to go.

Thanks definitely going with Premium Package all the way.. just not sure about the 401A add-on that seems to be prevalent on a lot of the models I am seeing on dealers lots....maybe the fact that a lot of the dealer purchased units on lots come with it is a good sign.. actual owner feedback is always best though..

Hello all! I picked up my first mustang about 3 weeks ago, been kinda lurking on here for a few months, but decided I should sign up now since I officially have the car.

I picked up a 16 GT Premium PP DIB, loving it so far!

Been a while since I've owned a car, I have been driving trucks for the past 9+ years, I came from a 2012 Tundra, so the mustang is a huge difference. The last car I owned was an 05 EVO, back in 05.

Let the mods begin!

Base gt pp should save you some on weight over a premium!

Thanks for the input, not sure what you mean by weight? I am pretty sold on the GT premium as I want the leather seats, Large LED screen etc.... Just undecided about the 401A package....

I have the same package that you're contemplating, except that on a convertible it is a 201a package. It seems to me the question becomes, "How important is music to you, i.e., high definition radio and the like?"

I'm of the opinion that the 401a package is definitely worth the money, and, if you don't get it, you will be kicking yourself in the fanny for not doing so.

As far as I'm concerned, you are not going to into the poor house by buying one with that package. So, do this: listen to the sound system on a Mustang without a 401a package and then listen to a Mustang with a 401a package--be sure to tune into a high definition FM radio station and notice the difference.

Bottom line: In our S550 car club, we have a lot of guys who tried to save money by not getting 401a package and regretted doing so. Remember, next to the sound of your exhaust system being the most important, the sound of your stereo system is a close second.

For all practical purposes, you are going to have to live with the sound system decision for the entire time you own the car.

Just sayin' . . .

Excellent Point! thanks... I think you sold me on the 401A :-) The model I was looking at without the 401A has sold.. so maybe another sign?

Hello all. Longtime S197 owner here - finally caved in and bought an S550. Here to learn the new changes on the S550 platform and be a part of the 6th Gen family. I've worked at a Ford Dealer for over 4 years now as an Internet Sales Manager, but have access to Vehicle History Reports and Parts Info. Hit me up if I can help.

Looking forward to learning a lot. Thanks!
