Greetings from Texas.

I'm currently researching and shopping for a new daily driver that I'll buy around the end of May. The 2016 Mustang tops the list, either EB Premium or GT Premium. I still haven't decided for sure which engine, but have driven both flavors about an hour each. Thinking I'll probably go auto trans, either Magnetic, Deep Impact Blue (wife's favorite) or Ruby Red.

I've owned 3 Mustangs before, but they were all 1965 models (two notchbacks and one fastback).

These forums have already been a great source of info and food for thought. Thanks!

Hello All,
Not new to Mustangs but new to the S550. Never thought I would purchase a 4 cylinder Mustang but here it is. I really enjoy the car.

Hey folks newbie here; I woke up 2 weeks ago and decided I'm done with my Cobb stage 1 2016 WRX.
I no longer believe in my original mission of setting out to make 500hp out of a built 2.0 turbo as I think it will be ridiculously expensive to get there and super unreliable.
My commute just increased to a point where I'm in traffic 2*25 mins a day and I didn't fancy the thought of the race clutch either.
So here I am after looking at golf R dsg for a few days, and 996 turbos, I decided to try the 2016 mustang GT and was really really surprised. It's head an shoulders faster than a stage 1 WRX and probably stage 2 as well. Previously I had incorrectly judged the gt as terrible and not really a performance car based on a personal experience of a rental v6, and reviews of general bad handling compared to jap and EU counterparts, I should of just driven one as they are so different to how I had imagined.

I've had a lot of cars, 95% stick too, but I'm probably gonna get an auto 2016/17 GT.
Will getting an auto drastically limit tuning potential?
Is anyone offering retro fitted performance packs?
Should I wait for the 2017?
I here there is a rumor of a new auto box in the 2017 any truth to that?
Pleased to meet you all, looking forward to joining a meetup when I make the trade!
Welcome! All good rides you mention and while the S550 isn't flawless not many [any] cars in this price point are.

I'll give my 2 cents...

Will getting an auto drastically limit tuning potential? I don't think so, tuning options I've seen dial in for trans. Drag racers like the autos.
Is anyone offering retro fitted performance packs? Not 100% that I've seen, certainly doable, but you may as well save the trouble and $ and buy a PP.
Should I wait for the 2017? No major changes coming in '17 that I've seen here. So no. Rock it now.
I here there is a rumor of a new auto box in the 2017 any truth to that? Rumor, repeat RUMOR, for 2018 a 10 speed auto.

Hey Gang,
Nothing too interesting to say about me here, I’m Marvin, a long-time Corvette guy that also likes Mustang’s. With that said, I decided to buy one. Just picked up a 2016 Shadow Black EcoBoost Premium with the Performance package. Car is automatic, has heated/cooled seats, park assist, and voice activated navigation - that’s about all I can tell you about it now – this is my first Mustang, so I know very little about the car.

The forum seems to be quite active and has lots of good info. That’s why I’m here; to learn as much as I can about my new car. I know the Search Button is my friend, but please be gentle as I’m sure I’m gonna ask a ton of stupid noob questions

Newbie from CNY

I picked up my 2016 Ecoboost down in Virginia a month ago. I've been a big Bike guy for the last 20+ years but decided to try a new 4 wheel fun car and I've always loved Mustangs. I had an old 70 coupe back in late 70's (100$ rust bucket) but I loved it. Not having owned a Performance car in almost 30 years (my last was a 85 IROC-Z) I am impressed with what technology has done to improve our driving experience. I love my Dark Green Stang!

I'm of course already looking at Performance Mods :D

I received a V6 S550 as a rental car in February of 2015 and even though it was a base car with an automatic, I was really impressed with it.

I am at an age were it was time--both age wise and financially--to get myself a fun car. For the last year I have been looking at 2015/2016 Mustangs. I have taken at least 1/2 dozen test drives in GT's and at least 1/2 dozen test drives in Ecoboost models. Due to the lower acquisition cost, I really tried to like the Premium Ecoboost. However, I just never warmed up to it in all the test drives I took--yes I drove manuals and automatics and I drove base suspension and PP suspension. I finally decided that if I was going to get a Mustang, it had to have the V8. (Not really knocking the Ecoboost, it just isn't for me.) Once I decided I wanted a GT, then I had to decide if it was a Base GT or a Premium GT. I thought I could live with a Base GT, but I was never able to convince myself to pull the trigger and buy one. I just felt like I would be missing the niceties that come with the Premium. The problem with the Premium GT was that the price of a new one was getting too high for what I personally wanted to spend on a fun car and my wife was also resistant to spending $40,000. (And we all know--or at least I do--that having the wife's blessing makes life much better.)

So with that background I decided to wait 4-5 months for three reasons:
1) I was still not sure I wanted to spend $40,000 on a fun car;
2) To see if the wife would warm up to the idea of spending $40,000 on a fun car; and
3) To see how large the year-end bonus at work would be.

So now we are to the stage where the bonus was good but neither the wife nor I are comfortable spending $40,000 on a fun car. Finally we agreed to spend around $25,000 on a fun car. So, back to looking at Ecoboost models again. But no matter what I drove, I just did not want the car. That sent me to looking at used S197 GT's. (Yes I know that the S550 is a better car, but the S197 is not a bad car and it has the glorious Coyote engine.)

Today I finally picked up my Mustang. I got a loaded, used 2011 GT with the California Special package. It had 25,000 miles and I got it for $20,000. I love to hear that Coyote wail and to feel the rush of acceleration. No it is not an S550, but it will do for now.

This is a fantastic forum and I will continue to visit here often.

Hey Guys,
My name is Mike and I live in Cincinnati right now but I'm from Walnut, CA. Currently looking to trade my Kia Optima for a 16/17 GT with PP in either the Oxford White or DIB color. I have a question about wheels. I've seen most on here going with 20x10 and 20x11 with offsets in the +30's.
I currently have Rohana's 20x9 + 42 and 20x10 +45, would this fit ok on a new S550 that's pretty lowered? Or would I rub the strut on the inside? Thanks in advance...

Currently what I have:

2016 Roush Warrior S/C
Greetings from Germany

Just picked up a 2016 Supercharged Roush Warrior at the port in Bremerhaven Germany on Monday. Broke it in (lightly) for the 6 hour autobahn drive home and have only taken it out of the garage once since due to crappy weather.

This is my first mustang since owning a LX 5.0 manual back in '88 and I have a quick question for anyone who may be able to shed some insight. I did a quick search of this forum and didn't find reference to it so I'm just going to throw this out there.

Ever since I picked up the car, I've been experiencing a clunk on every upshift between 2 and 4 but never on the downshifts. Both me and my passenger can hear (and FEEL) a pronounced clunk/thud, with the clutch fully engaged, as it goes into gear. I can literally be coasting with the clutch to the floor and shift back and forth between 1-2, or 2-3, or 3-4 and it clunks every time it goes into a higher gear but is smooth as butter when shifting into a lower gear.

My previous car was a 6-speed GTO with IRS and a T56 tranny and I've driven many other makes and models of performance cars and never experienced anything like this. I'm going to try and drive another 2016 manual GT this weekend to see if it does the same thing but it feels like something is wrong to me. I feel it in the shifter, down the driveline, all the way to the diff, so I'm not really sure of the exact location. The clunk is significant enough that both me and my wife can feel it in our seats too. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is it normal/typical?

Just joined today after lurking for awhile. I think I've lined up a reasonably priced GT350 allocation for order in MY 2017. Looks to be another great drive home from a rural SE Ford dealer just like it was with the Boss. These Cali guys are nuts with their pricing and so are the people that pay it. Now I have to decide is it the Boss which is such a fantastic machine or my fantastic wife? lol

Looks to be a great forum with lots of sharing of info and opinions,
