Hi, Ready to Order but Still Waffling on What

Hi, my name is Nick and I drive an '07 Miata. She's got 114k miles on her so have decided to sell her and get a Mustang; however, I'm torn between the GT and EB. I live 3 miles from where I work and the speed is a maximum of 35 (I work on a military installation) with a low of 25. So, the GT seems way overpowered but I love the sound and hope to do some fun driving on weekends and when on leave (vacation). The EB gets better gas mileage but I'm not sure how much more considering my Miata gets up to 38 if I go to the Outer Banks but gets between 23-26 driving back and forth to work. So I suspect the EB will, once it's broken in, get a bit less. And I suspect the GT will get a lot less.

I've found a local dealer who will sell me the truecar.com cost for either and I've decided on the options (I'm a vert fan). At the office, several are telling me to go GT and I won't regret it. Outside the office, folks are saying go with the EB. Friday I pull the trigger and order; she'll be Guard Metallic. If I go with the EB, I'll also include the PP. So, thoughts?
Thanks! :headbonk::shrug::frusty:

Within 10 mph of the limit...mostly.
Have you taken test drives in the various models? I drove the Ecoboost first, then the GT and fell in love with the GT. Probably more an emotional and visceral thing than anything else. If I was super concerned with fuel economy I would have no problem with the EB; it's still a great car; even though it doesn't elicit quite the same feelings while you're driving it you will still have a great performance car that also is economical. Drive them both and see which one wins out!

Well LoneRider, you sound like you're at the decision junction I was two months ago. I was going to get a GT vert loaded but didn't want to spend $44,000 for a $48,000 MSRP car. I was trading in a 2013 GT vert so I knew all about the great Coyote motor. So I started thinking about the ecoboost engine to save money. It drove and handled great and was much cheaper. But then I saw a V-6 vert...what? You mean I can have a beautiful car that has 300HP for $15,000 cheaper! It runs well, gets 25-30MPG, runs on regular unleaded and is cheaper to insure. I had 9 other Mustangs over the last 50 years and all had V-8s. I also, like you, had owned two Miatas,so the question became: Could I be happy with a Plain Jane V-6 vert? Oh Yea I am very happy with my choice. Haven't regretted my car and love the savings. Good Luck and there's no bad choices here.

GT no question. if driven right you can get acceptable gas mileage.

Greetings mustang6G community!

Just picked up an Oxford White 50th anniversary 5.0 PP last week. Glad to be back in the Mustang family. My last Mustang was an '03 Terminator which I had sold in '08. The Terminator was heavily modded. Missed that car alot.

The S550 platform is nothing short of revolutionary when compared to the Termi. Where the Termi was a brute and rough around the edges, the S550 is comfortable and easy going but still retains the muscle car spirit. Its so good at being a true GT car that I use it as my DD, something that I couldn't do in the Termi.

Was going to wait to break it in before modding, but the bug hit me and at scant 239 miles, I've already ordered Steeda springs, a Steeda transmission insert, Steeda hood struts, an MBRP catback, a JLT CAI, a RPI Design RaceMesh upper and lower grille, Roush heat extractors, a UPR single valve oil catch can, a Barton short shift kit, Craigs Custom license plate bracket, a Diode Dynamics L.E.D. kit and Watson Racing 1/8" wheel spacers...about to pull the trigger on a tuner and either a Lund or Livernois custom e-mailed tune.

...all inspired by this great forum and its equally fantastic members...so thanks again everyone for helping me empty my wallet.

Enjoy your cars in good health!

I looked at the V6 but I want adaptive cruise control and leather which don't come on the V6 in the vert. I did test drive both and loved the sound and power of the GT. On the other hand, all the options of the GT Premium are available on the EB Premium. What I didn't do is test them is fun conditions. I think redo MiddleAgedPunk's suggestion and test drive the EB again but this time, only test the EB. I need to find a route that will give me a fair feel of the car and how it handles and then, if I'm wowed, pull the trigger otherwise I'll get the GT vert.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions!! :clap2: You'll know this weekend which way I went.

Nick.

Looking forward to hearing which one you choose. Who knew that picking out a car could be this much fun? I toyed around for months on making my decision and read this forum daily. I would have bought the EB Premium and been very happy, until someone opened my eyes to the Katzskins aftermarket leather seats. So I will be modding my V-6 vert with purple leather seats with contrasting gold stitching...all this on an Ingot Silver car. Cannot help myself as I am an LSU Tiger nut. Might as well drive something that makes me smile every time I get in her.LOL. You are wise to spend more time testing them! Good Luck.

Hi my name is Austin. I haven't purchased a mustang yet but I'm moving out of the city this summer so I need to buy a car and the Mustang seems like the obvious choice.

This will be my first foray into car ownership. I grew up on my parents' BMW e30 and ever since then, knew that I want three pedals, two doors, and RWD. Literally the best picture of that e30 I could find on my computer is attached.

I'm hoping to test drive an Ecoboost manual this weekend!
