Lorne, if you shop around, you will probably get $4,000+ off the sticker right now on a 2016 sitting on a dealer's lot. I KNOW that I overpaid when I ordered my GT Premium (no PP), but I LOVE my car and I LOVE driving it every day!!!! Some things are worth the money and no one is going to take care of you except you - do yourself a favor and get in that new car!
You will never regret it! :headbang:
Thanks for the reply! I am on cars.com a lot and am seeing the 2016's all the way down into the low 30's. As I mentioned to hiccup they are special cars and the never buy new rule doesn't seem to apply. Thanks for the encouragement. I will let you guys know when I pull the trigger.. By the way... are any of you familiar with Koons sterling ford out of Virginia? There is also another Koons ford from another region that have crazy low prices. I have heard though that dealerships will often post a really low price that includes every conceivable discount option available -- (military, student discount, etc..) and make you think that is the price you are getting. Seems like Koons is giving a "wow" price and then offering discounts on top of that. If that is the case it would be worth it to purchase out of state for me. There is one big giant dealer in my region and he seems to set the price much higher..

Lowest prices in the Atlanta area seem to be at Jim Tidwell Ford, Kennesaw - they also have a big selection to choose from. Good Luck.

2016 Ford Mustang GT (black red racing stripes)
Good day everyone. After a much exhausted search and many test drives I finally purchased my first sports car yesterday. I was very torn between a MY2016 versus MY2017. Even with X plan pricing on the 2017 the discounts on the 2016 were too deep to pass up.

I decided on a 2016 GT black with black appearance package. I am currently having them install red stripes on it and I will be picking it up next week. Can't Wait!

After test driving several Camaro SS and other sports cars the Mustang was the right fit for me and I could not be more pleased with my decision. I haven't even driven mine yet (did test drive others) and I have no buyer's remorse at all.

The only concern I have is I feel the stock exhaust is too quiet. My next purchase will be an aftermarket exhaust. Something with a nice deep rumble that is louder than stock, but not loud enough to make the neighbors angry. Any recommendations are welcome.

Congratulations on the purchase! I am in the exact same situation as you... I am not sure if I should go with a 16 or wait for the 17. Can I ask if you purchased it locally or over the internet? What type of discounts or promotions were they offering on the 16's? As far as exhausts go, you are spot on with making that a top priority mod to start. I have been researching and am sold on the Borla series. They have the Touring (quite, but lights up when accelerating), Sport - which is the one I will go with, more agressive than touring, but not obnoxioius. Finally there is the ATAK which is more of a racing vibe to it and will draw lots of attention and wake the neighbors... Make sure you post some pics the red striping...

Lorne:

I was fortunate enough to purchase locally. There are three dealers in my market area so they have to be pretty competitive with each other. Also I am only 90 miles from Atlanta, GA or Knoxville TN (so there are lots of ford dealerships within driving distance). I searched on websites and found the exact car I wanted at several places. Called the dealerships and asked for the sales managers. Asked them to beat True Car pricing. Finally had one who said he would beat true car by 500 dollars (which was almost 1300 below x plan pricing on my particular car) and throw in the racing stripes at cost with no installation fee. Took a little effort but was worth the savings.

Thanks for the info on the exhausts. The sport exhaust you are mentioning sounds exactly like what I am thinking about. I will check it out.

The other big decision maker for me was I qualified for 0% financing which may or may not be available for the 2017s if I had ordered.

I recommend you do the resonator delete first. Can save you hundreds .If that doesnt satisfy you ears then move on up to mufflers. Nothing wrong with the ford pipes which join the two. Well made!

When you say "true car pricing? are you referring to X plan pricing?

TrueCar pricing is an Allstate insurance program I think? A bit cheaper than Xplan

2016 GT MT PP
Hi - Another new 2016 owner here!
Bob, in Maryland. I've had my GT PP fro 2000 miles now. Haven't driven a Mustang MT since the '66 3 speed that I learned to drive with. Surprisingly, Ford has managed to retain the same harsh clutch feel after 50 yeras - go figure :). So far, I put the Steeda clutch spring in and there's an MGW shifter sitting on my bench waiting for install. Overall I love this thing. It's a ton of fun to drive. I chose the Mustang over the Camaro because of visibility and overall driveability. No regrets there but I do wish the pony had a little more grunt at the bottom. Once it starts to spin the Gt is pure fun! As I get used to the gearing, I'm finding that I can easily do things in traffic that I probably shouldn't even consider.
I've lurked around long enough - this forum has great posts so..... hello and looking forward to meeting everyone.
