Red leather looks nice IMOPremium for sure because I want brown leather or red leather seats. As far as other options I'm not really picky about it as long as it has the performance package. IE: brembo brakes, and whatever else comes with it. It'll be a 6MT. I do plan on procharging it safely with a modest boost and necessary steeda IRS enhancements to go along with it. I'm 34 now so I don't care to drag race like I was in my 20's so drag suspension and proper setup is unnecessary for me. I just want the car to decently handle and take off like a bat out of hell. It won't see any track time as well..
Forgot to mention I used to own a 2002 GT 5spd so I'm familiar with mustangs and drag racing, but i'm completely new to the S197's and S550's.
Are the Getrag(SP?) transmissions any good? I know fords trannys usually suck unless they use the T-56's (03-04 cobras/GT350). My tremec 3650 took a shit few miles out of warranty and never trusted ford trannys ever since then.
Sounds good. Thanks for the info. I did a tiny bit of research myself and most of everyone says it's fine, but it's not great of course. Just cold notchiness, but a shifter is a must.Red leather looks nice IMO
Honestly I do read a lot of talk about loud/clunky transmissions on this forum but haven't seen many threads discussing mechanical issues though.
I don't care about clunk or not. I care about reliability and durability. As I said before the tremec 3650 that was in my 2002 GT broke(3/4 synchro). They even had a TSB on it which I could not be granted because I was out of warranty.I take the so called "clunk" as a real tranny I had imports before and they'd be smooth but sometimes wouldn't go in at all. In my GT PP second gear can be ruff if your shifting below 3k RPM and u do hear a noise (the clunk), but when I'm banging through the gears and hitting it hard it has never failed and it's buttery smooth. Just feel like that's a muscle car... Pony wants to run wild not sit in bumper to bumper....that being said test drive it and you'll know but it didn't deter me away, if anything made it feel like this thing is begging to be run hard :ford:
Looks good! I love CO.Hiya!
2016 California Special GT in Competition Orange owner here. I traded in a 2014 Subaru STi (sedan, stage I) for this car. The 2015 revision was the first body style that I really liked after the old fox bodies. I've always wanted an 88 or similar.
Lots of people ask "why would you trade in an STi for a Mustang?". The answer I always give is this: "What made the car fun to drive 20% of the time made it horrible to drive 80% of the time." I moved into the city of Atlanta from the suburbs after I bought the STi. It got to the point where I dreaded having to drive to work...sitting in traffic is just awful in the STi.
Before the STi I had an FRS, which had similar but different problems. No power on the highway and jarring suspension. Fun as hell to drive but totally impractical.
The Mustang is kinda like a "grown up" FRS, in my opinion. Everything is softer, things are heavier, etc.. I do wish that Ford (and other American manufacturers) would take a page out of Toyota's book on fit and finish. My cup holders don't line up right, there's some weird rattles in the dash, and so-on.
Oh, and for what it's worth, the FRS had an Aisin triple-synchro transmission and Torsen LSD...and it clunked all the time.
Anyway, here's a pic (yep, looks red):

I was worried about that too..if you go catback with Corsa or Borla no cutting .the entire factory exhaust lifts out..so many guys trying to sell their stock exhaust here..They do sound good and i really like some of the axle-back systems but i don't want to chop up my factory exhaust.
Whatever you decide it will be nice...roush..frpp..magnaflow or even gibson..it will be an improvement over stock suitcase and factory.
