So, we have 8 2014 F350's in our work fleet with the 6.2 gas motor in them. All of them have the BBQ tick. Most are over 100k miles and have towed/hauled well outside of their perimeters. Some don't even get oil changes done on time. None of them have had any major break-downs and still have good power.

Anyway, here's a video I took Friday of the exact noise people seem to think is exclusive to the Coyote.

I have the exact tick. Ford is doing a short block swap because of metal shavings in the oil pan. Hmmmmmm.

I'd love to see the analysis on if the shavings were related to the tick. We have a lot of these 2014 6.2 F-350's making the same noise as the Coyote and have had zero issues.

This is an advantage to do it yourself oil changes. You can inspect the filter and oil. I have a Ford service contract. For many years I used to do all oil changes and maintenance. Then I ran out of ditches to pour old oil in. j/k

The shavings are unrelated to the tick.

Lots of engines make this noise. Here's a Ford TSB on a diesel that does it. When they get a spare minute they'll release a similar TSB for the Coyote, I'm sure.

A friend had a short block replacement because of shavings like mine. His new block isn't ticking.

I hear Honda Accords are nice.
I have owned two. Both were very nice and reliable. I have also owned numerous Acuras. I'm leaning more toward another sports car. Like I said research before I buy. Then there is the evap coil issue and hood corrosion problems. See?
