I have a 2020 Mustang Gt PP1 and have had the check engine light pop twice now and on my Ford App it states that the Intake Manifold Runner Control Valve is not working. Is this a common issue with the S550? I've got 19000 miles on my car and i changed the Air Cleaner to a Corsa closed system and added a oil catch can and i dont have a tune on the car

The only real way to confirm whether the shafts or sensors are broken is to pull the intake manifold, remove the components and carefully inspect them.

Let us know what you find once you’ve had a chance to look into it a little further.

It was mostly a gen 2 GT problem. They supposedly fixed it for gen 3. Keep us posted.

It'll just break in a different spot.

I guess I started this back in October of 2024 and now I guess I’ll add to it. This has been a recurring problem with my Mustang GT. It’s now June of 2025 and it’s back to the dealer again, 3rd time, for another IMRCV or a we can’t recreate the problem. No one else is having this issue?

Sorry for the delayed response. i did t hook up my code reader out of frustration so I didn’t read any codes. I took my Mustang to the dealer today and got it checked out. Glad I got a great service tech and great mechanics. I spoke with the mechanic directly and he informed me that the IMRCV are VERY SENSITIVE. He said if they are a centimeter off it will trip the check engine light. He asked if I had any loss of power and I informed him that I did not. They ordered the part and will install later. I then asked if it was safe to drive he stated yes, apparently it’s an air flow issue not electrical. F it was electrical the engine would bog down and lose power. Again, good service techs and mechanics at my dealership. Now, that still doesn’t make me happy that I’m having this actuator replace for the second time. If Ford knows these actuators are that sensitive they should make a correction. Thank you for responding hopefully no one else ever has this issue

Are you sure he said a centimeter? That's like 4 tenths of an inch. I'd hope it's a lot more sensitive than that... I mean nearly 1/2 inch of play is a lot in any situation. Now if he said millimeter, that would be sensitive.

Sorry correct a millimeter. Still causes concerns.
