Hello All,

New to the forum and Mustangs in general. I recently picked up my first mustang (2016) with a CEL that is believed to be the IMRC. My hopefully simple fixes seem to be getting more complicated as the replacement part seems to be Discontinued / Backordered. I have identified some options below and I would love some guidance on how to proceed. I do have a powerpack 2 currently and unfortunately only one option keeps that to my knowledge.

Option 1: source a new/ used 15-17 Manifold - (if you have one let me Know!)

Option 2: source an 18+ manifold, Adaptors, put back the stock Throttle body, and get a VPM tuner and HP tuner.

Option 3: Source a GT 350 manifold, and get a VPM tune and HP tuner

Option 4: Find a Powerpack 3 with the GT 350 manifold.

Appreciate the help!

If it were me, I'd do the GT350 IM. Easier, more direct swap.

I can vouch for the gt350 intake manifold. Car feels very quick with it. I’d recommend going with Lund for a tune. Also, keep the stock throttle body and use a VMP adaptor plate to connect it to the gt350 intake manifold. The GT350 TB is known to have drivability issues, so stock is best.

This.

I have the same setup, stock TB on the VMP adapter. You'll need injectors if you want to run E85.

Appreciate the feed back everyone. Pricing things out. Gt350 manifold 650, tuner / tuner 750/ and adaptor plate 80 im looking at roughly 1560 after tax..... ouch

Any one know where i can find a Low mile 15-17 takeoff or should I just bite the bullet...

I’d try and source used parts as well. My build was this: manifold ($650 new)+ adaptor plate ($58 new)+ RTD tuning device ($30 used) + Lund tune ($450)+ PMAS cold air ($292 new) = $1480.

Only used part was my tuning device which saved me quite a bit. It’d be worth a shot, since you can give the serial number to your tuner and see if it has any unlocks left.

This is really dependent on your use case. The 350 manifold loves high rpm, so peak power is 7850 rpm and you really need to rev it. I like it for my track days. An 18 manifold retains a bit more low end torque so it’s pretty good around town for fun.

Where are you located? I have a 2016 manifold in good shape. I went with a 2018+ manifold on my car.

The GT350 manifold is plug and play. All you need to buy is the TB adapter. No tune required. If you shop around the manifold runs about 450.

Actually the PP2 tune wants the GT350 manifold. That turns it into the PP3 tune. No real differences in the programming between 2 and 3, just the manifold. As long as you use the stock 80mm TB with the adapter. Don't use the 87mm GT350 TB

if you are going to get a tune then use a 18+ manifold. if you don't plan to tune it then maybe the gt350 manifold is better if it really is plug and play. the gt350 manifold requires changes to the tune to work properly. it might run fine without a tune but you don't get much performance increase without the tune
