Insurance thinks Roush is GT

Hey all,

Have a super clean 2015 RS2 with Phase 2 blower kit I want to buy. 20k miles, car is ceramic wrapped and super well cared for. Negotiated price to $33k, but lenders don't recognize it as a Roush and will only lend me what they'd lend if it were an equivalent regular GT...$28k.

This isn't the end of the world as I can scratch some money together, but what sucks is that the insurance company has the same problem and will only consider it a $28k car so if God forbid something happened they'd short me $5k too!

Any ways to get around this, Roush owners?

PS - Would appreciate your thoughts on whether or not $33k would be a good deal. Negotiated that price a month ago when it was listed at $37,000, deal didn't go through because I ran into the above issue.

Now car is listed at $34000.

Think it's worth $33,000? Seems about $4,000 more than a super clean equivalent 2015 GT premium.

In my limited experience with a Saleen, most insurance companies will give you the option to insure on a "stated value" instead of the standard rate based on the VIN. I don't think you have much latitude with lenders though. You might try having an appraisal done and submitted on your behalf.

I'm not in the business enough to say if that's fair price, but it seems pretty reasonable to me.

It is a GT. If you want it that bad over a GTPP or something, just throw down cash for the rest. It's not VIN specific so I don't see them lending past that. KBB and other places don't have an option to select Roush Package because they know how overpriced that package is from Roush and it doesn't hold value. There were four RS3s that sat on my local Roush dealer's lot from 2018, and just a couple months ago, they finally had to send them off back to Ford or to auction, I'm not sure. Because for one, not many people are stupid enough to pay $80k+ for a GT with an $8k supercharger and a MT82 when you can get a 350R for less than that, and a lot of people probably ran into the same situation you did.

Nice Car! I see FI 5.0’s going for around ~30k so this one being a Roush 15’ I’m sure you could maybe offer 32-33k and see what happens. Just an FYI though, those are project 6g wheels and not sve 350’s.

If the car still has the regular ford VIN then as far as the banks and insurance companies are concerned, it's a GT.

you can do gap and also inform of the aftermarket parts getting a value on them. ZX3ST is correct on asking for above the stated value due to aftermarket parts installed by a third party.
was the roush stage 2 kit installed when the car was new or after the fact? that could be the difference.

I don't think I've seen a 6gr seven in that color, i've mostly seen more of the gloss bronze colors. Plus that bronze looks identical to the SVE R350 satin bronze. Obviously I could be wrong too, I'm just curious how you could say for certain.

Depending on who had the car...check to see if the original Roush window sticker is with the car...many people save them and put them in the glove box. Unlike many performance modifier's, Roush is not a post title company...Roush is the manufacturer of record. If you can find the Roush window sticker that lists all the modifications and price...take that to your insurance agency. You could also gather all the info need by Roush and give them a call to see if they could furnish you with a reprint of their window sticker....even if it cost you a few bucks, it would probably get you covered for the full amount of the car by your insurance. My bad I’m wrong. Sorry about that my mistake. It was early and I was thinking sve 350 was a completely different rim. Got it mixed up with the MMR brand.

Both state farm and hagerty use stated value.i did that for my gt is.but as I recall I had to produce evidence it was worth it,like car ads,kbb,nada,hemmings

I go thru American collector. They will go by agreed apon value. I have my highly modded GT Insured for 36.
