Gadzooks @Bossdog if you have the skill to get those arms out, then why not try DIY for the toe bearings with a ball joint press?

It's the easiest of all the spherical bearings and doesn't require a 20T press.

given the wide variety of experiences removing these, and no access to a hydraulic press, I’m hitting the “easy button”.

My mechanic installed these for me and he had a hell of a time doing them. He has done them before but for whatever reason my car gave him trouble when trying to press them in straight. He got it done eventually but i'm glad i didn't attempt. Well worth the few hundred bucks imo

At this point i only DIY the "fun" stuff not the frustrating stuff, 15 years ago was a different story. It's just not as fun for me working on cars as it used to be... plus when i was younger it more of a necessity since i couldn't necessarily afford paying a mechanic for every mod or upgrade that popped into my head

I'm in the middle of swapping mine. I got one finished today. I thought I had the tools I needed, but my 1-1/4" socket was a deepsocket and wouldn't fit in the ball joint press. So I went to HF and bought one. Found out it was too small OD and went inside the bearing. Drove to Lowes and theirs was also too skinny.

I spent more time driving around today than it took me to actually press out and press in the new one.

Seems like it would be harder to remove the knuckle and take it somewhere?

I bought this Sunex socket that someone else recommended in another thread.

It fits nicely.

I’m definitely a < 1 percenter! If there is a less than 1% chance of something bad happening, it’s likely going to happen to me.

I just did mine over the weekend and it was pretty easy. I bought the OMT bushing press kit. This kit is high quality and made my install a breeze. Had both bushings out in 10 minutes. Highly recommend it.

It is a solid kit! I’ll be using it to do my differential bushings next.

who ever said swapping the toe link bushings out and putting in the Ford Performance ones in was easy, was exactly right. I celebrated taco Tuesday at my favorite Tacoria, had 2 jumbo margaritas, swung by my local mechanics and they were done! Then I went home and took a nap!
