I've never saw an ev pull up next to a moving car and try to get them to race like a ice vehicle would with the fly by or the slow down and line up crap on the move. They only ever try to go from a stop obviously since that's where they shine. It's so hard to tell if they want to race though because they don't make any noise. At least I can tell when a honda civic reving his fart can up wants to run.

Outside of the plaid though any boosted coyote shouldn't have an issue lighting up an ev off the line. (Assuming you know they want to race) I don't even have an a10 and the plaids are the only one I haven't beaten to 60.

When Tesla drivers want to show me how fast they are, I show them how loud Corsa Xtremes are :giggle:
LOL exactly. Reminds of two kids in a Tesla kept trying to race me. I did not but I did show them how sweet my exhaust sounds. At the light they said my exhaust sounds fantastic, I said "Thank you, I could not hear yours!"

Seriously though, I appreciate the tech in Tesla's and they are fast. But there is more to a sports car than just being fast and silent in a straight line. The enjoyment you get from the engine sound as the rpms climb then if you have a Manual especially the shifting experience is something else. Also I DRIVE MY CAR, my car doesn't drive itself. I appreciate how engaging the S550 is.

Who knows what will happen with Ford when it comes to an actual EV Mustang coupe/convertible in the future.

Profit margins are high on the V8 as that is what a lot of folks want AND are willing to pay for.
I could maybe see Ford dumping the ecoboost engine and making the entry level models all electric.

Then again, the electric motor could be more powerful than the V8 so either they would have to tune the battery/car a bit to ensure the V8 remains a more premium powertrain or possibly the opposite will happen and the V8 will go extinct and the GT will be EV leaving us stuck with the turbo.

Dodge and GM already went that way and dumped the big engines in Challenger, Charger and Camaro. Only one that really remains is the Corvette which isn't really a muscle car.
Maybe Ford will do the same.
Interesting to think about. Who knows what will happen.
EV's are gonna die out, they peaked already and the interest for them is declining. Soon, they'll be niche and boutique for coastal elites, not something for the masses

They're one trick ponies! I've had them start stuff on the road, and even gapped some from, IDK maybe a 60 or 80 roll. But EVs are just so beta. Go to any Target parking lot at lunch and you'll see these green weenies furiously charging their cars for 1hr while pretending to like the book they're reading, just so they have enough charge to pick up Johnny from ballet class after work. Really, imagine spending your entire lunch break in a 102deg parking lot so you can drive home...that's beta. Just remember they're not car people. You can drive your car fast, and you could drive their car fast, but they couldn't figure out how to drive your car fast...
Especially if you drive a manual, they'll uber home at that rate

Yea, I see it as no different than having fun with any other car out there. A friendly rivalry of sorts. They know they're faster than me, but they also know my car sounds way better. I haven't run into anyone that took any of it too seriously.

I'm not sure the numbers actually support that, tbh. Sales continue rising on an annual basis and carmakers are continuing to work on ways to generate economies of scale that will ultimately bring prices down while allowing for them to be profitable. EVs are still very much in the early adopter stage (maybe just entering the early majority stage). They'll likely continue to improve. With an average daily commute of about 42 miles in the US, there's plenty of reason to believe they'll ultimately be something for the masses. Just takes time.

So my family has a bunch of these things. Model 3 performance, model 3, model s 90. My car shits on all of them but the 3 performance from a dig-100.

the 3 performance is fast as shit up to 100. Probably does 0-100 in 6 seconds. Then it falls on its face hard. From a 60 roll I shit on that thing too. Gotta give it its props below 60 though as it rips off the line harder than my buddies old 430whp gutted twin turbo srt neon did.

now would I ever own one of them? Hell no. Boring ass cars and ride like garbage. I get carsick driving them.

We are just "coastal elites" according to some... 🤣
I completely agree with you. They definitely need time for refinement. Maybe a decade or two.
I won't be interested in them until they actually provide fewer compromises than a gas car.
Then again, I am not sure if they will be able to replicate a manual transmission for me so that may be tough but otherwise I see them being a viable option for most people.

I actually really like Tesla, especially the Model S. Would consider buying one at some point when the batter technology is better and there aren't as many drawbacks of electric. Hell, if the coyote engine ever goes i'll probably pop a Tesla battery under the hood and convert it to electric - although I don't know how that will work with a manual transmission..? 🤔

Take it as a compliment if a Tesla tries to race you. They are going to win.
When it comes to speed, Electric > Automatic > Manual

When it comes to fun, the equation becomes different for everyone.
Having a sports car has different purposes
My fun mustang equation is Manual > Convertible > Easy to work on > Reliability & Sound
They will beat a STOCK stang everytime, BUT supercharged stangs are a diff ballgame. When i had my roush stage 3 car, id beat them everytime w 750hp.. Now the TESLA PLAID is diff.. they will smoke any blown mustang, except cars in the 1000HP+ range.

The only one's not to mess with from a roll are the Plaids. My brother has the Model 3 Sport. It's fast, but it isn't going to give me too much trouble from a 40 roll on up. Off the line, obviously he's gonna get a gap, but I real him back in.

I try to not engage these cars. They have cameras always supposedly recording from all sorts of angles. If that idiot manages to crash while “racing” you, guess whose plate number is on the record?
this is an excellent point that cannot be overstated. teslas are trash.
