But only in my Ecoboost mustang

Ford… WOW….

How is the 10r80 in my Btonco tuned so much better than in my ecoboost???

WHO IN GODS GREY EARTH tunes a trans in a 4cyl car to drop to 1200 rpm in anything but first gear???????

That is possibly my only complaint so far is the luggy, buggy, jerky transmission….

It seems to be luck of the draw with the 10r80. My F150 occasionally clunks hard from 5th to 6th when accelerating easily downhill. Not real often, but man is it irritating when it does.

That was my experience in a rented Mustang. It annoyed the **** out of me that the transmission wanted to use 7th gear, going uphill, in a 35 zone.

It diligently avoided letting me have a whole 2000rpm, even with the gas pedal flat to the floor.

The EcoBoost 2.3 engine is supposed to have great torque at about 4000rpm, but you'd never know it from the way the autotragic transmission is programmed.

Okay, Ford said peak torque was at 3000rpm but, like I said, the transmission wouldn't let me get to 2000.

My car is a 6R80, I do have a 2021 Expedition with the 10R. Overall it seems fine, but I have had a good amount of weird clunks and bangs over the years ive owned it. Its definitely a finicky transmission.

4cyl mustang is an economy car with an economy calibration. Also, opinions vary. Someone could drive your bronco and complain about it but you think it's great.

It makes it even lower than that.

not being able to roll a stop sign/right turn in 2nd is annoying. shifting from 3 to 1 in that scenario is annoying. Drive is too hesitant to downshift, while sport mode is too eager to downshift more gears than necessary, if throttle is at ~75%.

Stock 10R80s can be finiicky and hunt for gears and shift funky. A tune does help out the 10R80 a ton whether its the 5.0 or the 2.3 ecoboost. Feel free to reach out if you are interested in tuning I can help get you setup with what you would need

My Ecoboost truck clunks and bangs and is pretty shitty. My mustang feels fine. No complaints there. Stock Cal or tuned. I think both are fine.

Agree. My 2019 isn't perfect but it's nowhere near as bad as many of the reports here. Upshifts and downshifts seem to be calibrated quite well with the drive mode and throttle inputs. It doesn't "hunt" for gears. Sometimes it takes a little too much throttle than I would like to induce a downshift in normal mode, but I get that normal is more of an economy mode. Occasionally I get an unexpected "hard" upshift when driving it like a granny but fortunately it's very infrequent.

With respect to transmission calibration and modern day manufacturing of transmissions and components, would you say there is a larger variation of performance of those items versus opinions of owners?

I have the 1080R in Both the 2020 eb coupe & my 21' GT. Stock to stock they behaved differently. The eb Trans was rebuilt before it became a company car . I have zero issues with its logic or shift firmness. Works well in a 3.15 geared eb application.

The 10 speed in my GT was clumsy and confused pre Wengerd tune. Not to.the point of a problem but there was room for improvement. The tune helped a bunch.

Dude… the fiesta i ditched after 280k and replaced with the ecoboost was an economy car….

just because it has a 4 cylinder does not make it an economy car.

I think the bronco functions properly, it could have different shift points as well, but it doesn’t dive into the dirt as soon as the load falls to cruise range.

Ford screwed the pooch on the stock tune, simple as that.

I just drove my kids 2007 PT Loser to the store…. It was actually less stressful than driving my mustang because, while it cant get out of its own way… the transmission only has 4 gears to choose from and doesn't decide to drop into 4th in a school zone!!!!! Lol

Had similar sounds when going down a steep hill and I have to slow down and start up again. Sounds like 3rd gear for me. But since I had the VVT Exhaust solenoids replaced. The transmission drives like a gem. It was low on oil and had a sticky solenoid when I bought it new. I noticed the low oil by feel because I had experience with low oil on my previous mustangs transmission. But I really like the 10 speed. Since the fixes were done that is. Just had my 2nd trans oil change at 63K miles.

Cars officially mine this month. So happy to have it paid off.
