I hate bad old drivers.

I live in Florida. In the most densely populated county in the state. I am surrounded by old people. Trust me, 90% of them don't know the difference between the hole in their mouth or the one on their ass. I talk to quite a few of them daily at work. Lol... Not surprised she hit your car. I respect elderly people but they shouldn't be allowed to operate a motor vehicle. There are few that are still super solid, but as a majority, they cause most of the car accidents around here and/or traffic jams.
Oh and for the nimrods that say "you'll be 70 one day". I'll say as my father tells me all the time. He's 64. "If I ever start driving like these old people please remove me from behind the steering wheel". I can agree to that.

And if your dad were to back into a car and somebody cuss him out also tell him he is 70 and deserves it!!

In all honesty it's really not all old people. My 76 year old dad moves from Florida to Ohio and on day 1 hops in my 99 2wd 4.0 Ranger in >8" of fresh snow and drove it like a cross between a Nascar driver and a surgeon. I'm white knuckle behind him in a 4runner. He hops out and says back in my day we drove bias ply tires with drum brakes... gave me a new respect for the old-timers.

But back on subject. I do agree with op. If your skills are declining to the point your even acknowledging it please hang up the keys and stay safe. As bad as it sucks to have your property damaged it could have been way worse.

I am a little sensitive, My dad passed away yesterday at 92 ( no he wasn't driving ) and my mom passed away last year but had macular and was 90% blind..
I saw the struggles my mom went through even though she had my dad helping..She stopped driving around 65 willingly.

I also used to think " why don't those idiots leave when a hurricane is coming" until I saw a few stories about single elderly folks with no family and no money and can't. Was very sad.

Point being, I don't know the ladies story but don't assume she had a choice. She might be broke and lost her husband or son 2 days ago..Don't be quick to Judge and please don't cuss and tal;k down to anybody young or old over a car

Not going to lie, if she knew she was "having trouble seeing" she had no business behind the wheel, even if it was to go to see a doctor. Call a cab or a friend, lady.

I feel no sympathy for her at all, I don't care what age she is.

I see friends and relatives who are old drive decline in their skills

still safer than a drunk driver, but Im taking the wheel
