How well will Mach 1's hold their value?

Here’s why IMO the Tremec has never been in the GT but is in the M1 and GT350:

Gas guzzler tax.

The MT82 has 2 overdrive gears, the Tremec has 1.

Not all MT-82's have double overdrive, The 11-17's were single just like the tremec. The 18+ got the double o.d. and a name change, they are referred to as MT82-D4

Lots of talk here about Ford putting the Tremec in the S650's and decreasing the value of the Mach 1's which could be very possible. I'd be more worried about whether there will even be a manual transmission S650 or even a V8 for that matter. With the way car companies are dropping the manuals (See the Corvette) I'm seriously thinking the Mach 1 may be the last/best 5.0 manual transmission Mustang made. Now what's that do to the resale value?

Does it really matter? If they only make it the 2 years it'll still just be in the middle of GT and Shelby's just like the SN GT's and SVT's. There's no way it'll hold value like a Shelby, there just hasn't been enough Hype from Ford and the certified Youtube experts.

I do think there will be a value difference with the handling packs esspecially if the miles are kept low by Shelby Level collectors. FJG will be as valuable as extra shiny mud and the plain normally less desired colors might be a little high because of being less popular in the beginning. ..could be wrong if they are limiting color production numbers.

I don’t necessarily agree. Not that any of us can know at this point but FJG could be the most valuable color down the road. It’s unique to the Mach 1 and based on sales numbers the most desired color.
I sold my TRD Pro 4runner for a premium last year and it was the most popular color the year it was produced. The other 2 colors that were available on the regular 4runner do bring quite as much on the market.

One of the motivating factors in my purchase was a degree of concern that this would be potentially the last true internal combustion specialty mustang v8 with a manual transmission. I hope it’s not. I wouldn’t even say it’s likely. But I did not want to get caught in a year or two wishing I had purchased it and my only option in 2024 was to buy an auto, an ecoboost, a hybrid, or some combination of the three.

I suspect the Mach 1 will hold value well with the Handling Package differentiating itself above that.

Perhaps Recaro seats adding further value to an HP version.

(I went Tremec HP with the climate controlled seats and the red calipers lol)

I do think that hte non FJG cars will hold value better due to rarity. from what Ican tell, my car will be one of about 10 over the two year run with my options....maybe 1 of 20. which is kinda funny, because it was the most popular similar/comparable option package to my 71. loaded red w/ a stick and normal rear seat (I do wish my 71 had the fold down rear seat, that is not an easy mod to make)

My motivating factor was that it was a 21 mach 1. pairs well with my 71 mach 1 which will get painted in modern race red. I intend to keep this car until I die, then get buried in it. I actually do not see myself buying another new car again, ever. hell, my daily is a 1986 Bronco eddie bauer, and it will remain so after the Mach 1 gets delivered.

Just looked it up. Roughly 8,300 boss 302’s. I figure double the number of Mach 1’s. It feels like a good comparison though

with the chip shortage of 2021 I doubt there will be 16,600 2021 M1s

Sorry i should have been more clear. The number I cited for the boss 302 was a combination of both production years and I was assuming a 2 year run for the Mach 1 as well

Sure, if you want to describe it that way. Not sure anyone on 6G would look at their car as an investment though - you’d expect that line of thinking from accountants or chess players.

Well, other than the GT350 or GT500 crowd.. But no... Doubtful many mustang owners are going to end up with much of an "investment".. No matter the model.. Unless it has less than 10 miles on it.. Upon which, what is the point of buying it anyway?

The 2012-2013 BOSS 302’s are now 9/10 years old respectively. If you’re talking just the standard B302, depending on condition, color, options, documentation, if it has the Track Key activated and accrued mileage, these were in the $25k-$33k range PRIOR to the asinine market craziness for new or used vehicles.

IF you’re talking about the B302 Laguna Seca, using the same criteria noted above, these were in the $35k-$40k range PRIOR to the craziness….

The B302 or B302LS isn’t “cashing out” when comparing street value to their original MSRP. That’s not including anyone who paid in excess of MSRP (like ADM mark up) where they most likely aren’t even at break even.

The new Mach 1 can’t be compared to Shelby’s for “how much will it be worth”. They’re more long the lines of the B302. Again, exterior colors, options chosen, trans type, documentation, how low of a Chassis # and if the car was mothballed, modified or driven thousands of miles will affect its future value.

If Ford produces a shit ton of M1’s, they’ll be just like any other cookie cut Mustang, be it a GT or a Shelby… they’ll be everywhere and once the market flattens again, they’ll be rotting on dealer lots and private party sales will be in the mid-30’s….

IMO, out of the S550’s - the 2015 50th LE will command good money in the future for having the lowest production count of ALL specialty S550’s.

The price of any new car is going to drop once sold. Of course there are exceptions to that statement, But I don't see the M1 going up in value in a normal market. It may hold it's value more than a typical GT, but that will be because it cost more in the first place, and there will be a bigger demand because of limited numbers produced.
69 to 71 Mach 1's are bringing about 5 times plus or minus what they originally sold for depending on condition, engine options, is it original or total restoration, etc.. If you think about it, unless you're going to live past a hundred and take extremely good care of the car and keep it for 50+ years; you'd be better off investing in a good mutual fund (BORING).

which is not even keeping up with inflation / currency debasement. Just to hold parity the multiplier is 7x.

Kind of interesting the price of used '19-20 Bullitts. Selling only a few thousand below sticker. Not bad. However a good part of that might be the car/chip shortage
