I’m planning on pulling the trigger on a stage 2 whipple (with whipple tune) & boundary OPG & CS tomorrow for my 2020 GT PP1. I know there’s a risk anytime you modify a car but it seems I keep reading about motor failures and seeing YouTube videos about all these people blowing their motors after adding boost.

How common is it?

I've had the Whipple now for 3 years. Started at 14lbs of boost, now for the last year been on 18lbs. I'm full time E85 though, not sure what your plans are for the car. Find a good tuner and plan on getting your trans built if you go above 12-14lbs.

For every one failure you hear about their are a thousand that workout fine. It’s normally people pushing the engine that fail not the people on the supplied tune and boost level

3.0 is griptech and haven't seen any in the logs as of yet. car has ran a 9.1@154 in 50 degree temps and a shitty 1.4 60ft. Can definitely run an 8 with this setup.
Very impressive. I just sold off my 17 MT82 Whipple setup and got a 21 10R car with clutches and Whipple in the mail. I stayed with the 6 rib set-up but was concerned if maybe I should have got the 10 rib because I plan on 18psi and 150 trap at least. Good to know it's working out for you 👍

Been really happy with the setup overall. I doubt I'll push it much further though, it's a driver.

Run a compression test before installing the SC if you want to be sure your engine is healthy.
The whipple tune is one of the safest but many variables come into play when increasing cylinder pressure on a 12:1 CR engine. Detonation is your enemy so only run the best fuel you have in your area, avoid long pulls like half mile, change to a thicker oil and warm up your engine before you get on it.

My compression shouldn’t be an issue. I only have 10k miles and I don’t beat the car. Thanks.

The more boost, the shorter the fuse.

If you stay around 10 pounds or less, you should have a long, happy trouble-free ride.

If you become a boost junkie, you'll turn your Mustang into a Jeep (Just Empty Every Pocket).
