The blend date is final assembly, when the car is completed. The build starts a couple days before that. The cars are never totally built in one day. Body assembly and paint happen before the blend date, for one.

I don’t think that is accurate. My sticker shows blend date 03/22 but my build date is scheduled for 03/23. Doing some looking around online I think blend date is a scheduled date when everything needed for final assembly is supposed to mate up and your actual build date is within a few days of the blend.

I am 100% certain my blend date is 3/22. My dealer looked into fords system and it has a build date scheduled for 3/23. In looking into it I have found numerous examples of people who have a blend date and their build date was as far as 5 days later. Do you work for Ford? If not it would be great if someone that did cleared it up because I’m genuinely curious as to what the answer is.

I recorded my timeline, every entry is from the tracker we could use at the time and my local Ford dealers system. I ordered on the 28th of December 2019 :

• ‘Delivered’ : 21/07/20 (‘Expected arrival date in the US port’ : 21/07/20)
• ‘Compound In’ : 21/07/20 (From UK dealer system, NOT from tracker)
• Sailed : 09/08/20 (From UK dealer system)
• Arrived (Liverpool Docks) : 26/08/20 (From UK dealer system)
• Arrived (UK Dealer) : 03/09/20

What took so long?

Never got a reason from Ford or the dealer. I wasn’t the only one in 2019 that took 8 months to get a car. There many of us! There were rumors of shortage of stripes, waiting for steering wheels, shifter replacements etc...etc! No information from Ford at all.

You were on the back end of the Great Steering Wheel Shortage of 2019, caused by a wildcat strike at one of Ford's Mexican suppliers.

It varies wildly.

I ordered my '15 on 1-2-15. Didn't get it until 4-3-15. It was built 48 days behind schedule.
