Took a nose dive into some mud last week… very confused because there is little to no damage to the grille and lip. However there is some frame damage under there hood, how bad is this? Honestly the car drivers and runs completely fine… might need a realignment.

Insurance claim has been filed. Full inspection on Monday, really hoping this isn’t my last weekend with her.

You better cross your fingers that they don't total it. If they don't, I will be very surprised.

Honestly, filing this on insurance should have been avoided if possible.

Damn I thought that was my pic for a hot second:

I hit a major pothole about a year ago while on a long road trip. My alignment got fucked up along with my rear tire. I had to find a place in OK with a tire on Christmas Eve. Had to drive another 3k miles to get it back home.

I got it looked at and no other damage was found. So I just got the alignment back in spec and everything has been fine since. Although all the miles with it out of alignment caused the fronts to go bald on the insides.
I can see that @Atms2020GT car defo doesn’t have the strut and cowl brace, but how about yours ?

I do wonder if those items (the cowl brace in particular) would have helped, or would they just move the energy absorption / damage elsewhere … ?

I do have a strut tower and cawl brace up top, as well as a Steeda g-trac k brace underneath.

This is my first time going through this but from my understanding it will only be totaled if the cost of fixing it is close to the value of the car. I’ve had the damage quoted at around 10 grand by caliber and another reputable body shop.

Austin, No sense of beating this to death but you hit really hard in order to put that kink behind the brake distribution block. Best advice get this baby up in the air at an alignment shop and see how bad she is tweaked. I'm afraid you did more damage than you know. Good luck with the inspection.

In order for a vehicle to be totaled, the damages have to be at least 72%~75% of ACV (actual cash value). The % varies by the Insurance Company, but usually the % is within that range.

So hate to bring this part up, but if the vehicle has modifications, sometimes the Ins. Co. will not payout additional $ for mods, unless the mods were covered under a separate rider on the policy OR you had an Agreed Value policy and the mods were lumped into the Agreed Value, instead of breaking them out as separate line items.

If you do have mods and IF the results come back as it being totaled, you could see if your Agent will accept current market values for those mods - doesn't hurt to ask, but just putting the above out there so you're not whammied.

Definitely keep us updated.

That’s good news, the wheels might have served you well … :like:

Any info or photos of the ‘severe upper rail damage’ ?

No pictures but I actually just got an update regarding the upper rail damage and minor structure damage. They’re getting ready to have a mechanic remove everything so they can begin structure realignment and upper rail replacement.

Well that's good to hear progress is being made! Now that you're at this stage, can you reveal to us how high of a hill or rail road track crossing it was that you tried to Dukes-of-Hazard-it?😁

(I'm totally kidding...)
