Agreed
That feels light to me, but probably due to the dmg being mostly just contained to 2 panels.
I thought the same we shall see

Check and verify they are using OEM parts not some aftermarket pieces. You would need and entire quarter panel and likely a new door , as that is probably cheaper than all the prep to get the door right. Add primer, paint and more I would tend to believe that is light also. Is your Insurance telling you where to go, as you can usually ( in most States ) go to the place you desire to fix your car.

Insurance can never force you to go to any shop but they’ll often ask for three quotes and then average out the payout.

Insurance can suggest where you go and I should have used that word instead of tell, because it is quite common for Companies to suggest shops. Actually it depends on the State you are in and what the State Insurance Commission rules are there , because one often only needs one quote, can get themselves. Some companies will actually send out someone to do it or have you stop in at their Claims office where their appraisers will estimate. There are lots of variables so check your State, but push for OEM parts.

Next time just hit the deer. :)
Likely to have been the same dollar amount, but I'd rather have front damage than quarter.

Deer would have wiped out front end or crashed through the windshield causing severe injury or death. Glad you wasn't hurt

Living where people hit deer on the daily your actually taught to not swerve cause you could hit a sign, bridge or loose control of your vehicle and that is much more likely to cause severe injury or death to you or even to others.

  • If a collision with a deer is unavoidable, brake firmly and stay in your lane. Do not swerve.
  • Swerving can confuse the deer as to where it should run and can also cause you to lose control of your vehicle, resulting in a more serious crash.
