You guys with the Eco-Boost. Tell us about your cars and the new engine. Are you happy with your purchase and the performance?
Are these cars as good as Ford states? I realize they are brand new but is gas mileage as was expected?
No nit picking here! Just want some real world info on the new car.

Thanks Sig.

My R/R GT is getting an average of 18 MPG with 1100 miles on the clock. I know it's too early for accurate readings but I would have thought the Eco- Boost would do at least 20MPG We shall see if it pans out. Good luck with your new ride

I was extremely impressed with the performance, and overall driving experience in our EB. I'm really looking forward to seeing how much the COBB Accessport wakes it up

As long as you shift before 5700 RPM, it pulls hard and makes the right turbo noises lol

I just wish our 2013 Scion FR-S had the Ecoboost engine in it! lol

I'm curious too. Also, regarding the exhaust note, I like how my 2007 V6 sounds, and of course I love V8s. But is the EcoBoost audible as much from the outside like the V6 and V8?

I know that the EcoBoost pumps the engine noise into the cabin through the speaker system. Just curious what people think about the sound from the outside.

Well it doesn't sound nearly as good as my 2007 GT with LT's, but it sounds just like a Focus or Fiesta ST

Yeah, this eco has a ton of tq. I love it, no complains whatsoever. Like others have said, above 5K it runs out of steam, but there are ways to prevent that.

I'm happy with it overall so far. As a DD commuter it's more than fast enough for darting through traffic and the like. I only have 300 miles on it and I am still running out the traces of the 87 octane, but mpg seems to be 24. That 24 is mostly city driving. I expect more performance and better mpg as it breaks I more.

Today I drove an EB manual. Based on owning a Premium GT for over 2 months, I was impressed with the EB's performance. IMO it is not significantly slower than the 5.0L; there is less sensation of being thrown back in the seat.

It was a blast to drive and I can see only getting 18 mpg around town since you want the engine to rev.

I did not feel that the engine noise was objectionable....typical performance 4 cylinder sound.

The car felt more nimble on turn in versus my GT as the EB felt a bit lighter.

I can see this car as a cool DD.

I've had my EB a little over a week now. I've pretty much only driven V8's for the better part of 20 years. I purposefully decided to test drive and try this new Mustang.

My verdict: I love it.

It doesn't have the sound of the GT's (and even then, the best sounding car I owned was the 04 Mach 1 with Borla Catbacks), but it's not bad and I've grown to like it. Performance wise it feels very similar to my '09 GT with the old 4.6 modular V8, but more nimble and tight.

For day to day driving the sensation isn't that much different than the newer Coyote engines, though obviously if you're going full out at every stop light you could likely tell a real-world difference.

As far as gas mileage, around town (driving as I normally do) I get a little over 22 in city driving. That also includes idling while picking up and dropping kids off at various places. Highway driving is significantly better, but I don't have an exact number. I'll also expect it to improve over time. I only have 233 miles on my car!

There are people biased against the EB cars, but I really don't get it. I think it's a great mustang (having owned many) and fits with the heritage very well.

Where to start? Mine EB w/PP, manual, daily driver...I am absolutely blown away with just about everything with this car. Just a delight to drive. I can't believe a 4 cylinder generates the hp and torque needed to make 3700 lbs. feel so muck lighter...and does it with ease, never really feeling or sounding like its working that hard to do it. (can't wait to put a tune on it). Tickled pink with the stock EB, and the after market potential has me drooling with anticipation.:headbang:

Love everything about the car. I prefer sport mode and keep it in that mode all the time. It's a daily driver and I've consistently average 25-26 MPG per tank for the last four weeks with 93 octane and a lead foot. I would say that is 80% city, 20% highway.

As far as what it sounds like outside the car... I couldn't tell you. It sounds great in the driver's seat which is all that matters to me.

Today I was going through a security checkpoint at work and the local credit union had three ladies passing out coffee mugs for Christmas. As I was pulling away I heard one of them say "damn, that car is fine!"

:headbang: This. Yes.

I've had mine for three weeks. Premium, auto, no PP, no mods/tune (yet!) Truly a peppy DD.

I agree with everyone and I personally throw it in sport and shift around 5500RPM. It's quite a nice torque band for DD purposes.

Fuel economy: once I broke her in and passed 1000 miles I started experimenting with CC to see what would happen. The computer tells me the following. These are my range of averages when cruising on i45 or some farm roads in Texas for at least 10 miles straight when testing.
55mph : 36-38mpg
60mph : 33-35 mpg
65mph : 31-32 mpg (makes sense based on EPA)
70mph : 29-31mpg
75mph : 27-29mpg

My avg fuel economy per tank for the last three tanks has been between 23-26mpg. I do a fairly even mix of city and highway, probably about 60/40.

Hope that helps
