I Love this Car!!! Besides looking damn sexy, the car has such a unexpected punch of acceleration. On the way home from the dealership I looked down and I was cruising at 100mph. You couldn't tell. It's sneaky fast. After 800 miles and a 60/40 mix of city/highway I'm getting around 28mpg or close to 400 miles of a full tank of 93 octane.

This is my first mustang and I'm truly in love. I've got the ecoboost with PP in Oxford white and it just pops with those black wheels. The acceleration is definitely surprising off the line and it hits 100 very quickly. 60 is there before you even know it. A friend referred to the sound of the exhaust as "so clean". The interior is absolutely amazing and love how it almost feels like the seats are hugging you.
I'm getting 32mpg on the highway and 24 in the city with 1 or 2 heavy foots a day.
Ford outdid themselves with the '15 and I couldn't be happier with my EB.

I agree with humster21. I have had my EB for a month now, with almost 1000 miles on it. It is "sneaky fast". You just don't realize how fast you are going until you look at the speedo. With my 05 GT with FlowMaster exhaust, you know and can hear that you are going fast, and in some cases it sounds faster than it is. The new EB is IMHO a home run for Ford. This car has great potential for performance and economy. My number are a high of 31mpg in 55-70mph driving, a low of 24mpg in city driving. Like all these 4 cylinders, ie the Focus and the Fusion, anything over 60mph and the mileage drops off fast. That is my only complaint about the current breed of Ford cars, the aero drag is higher than we think because the frontal area is very large, esp if you compare them to the 4-eye Fox body cars of the 1980s. So my only suggestion to future design of the Mustang is to "keep it trim". Don't let this car become a 1972 Mustang again.

Flak, you hit it on the head of why I went EB. I'm the exact opposite of you.

I grew up in a Mustang house and have always driven one (with maybe a year or so between a few of them). For a majority of the last 20 years it's been in a big V8.

I decided to try something new and go EB and see where it takes me. So far, I'm really happy and looking forward to the burgeoning community that the EBs will eventually have.

I have mine in Premium performance plus manual. This car is a hoot especially when shifting it in the 5700 rpm range. It sounds great as well. I was set on the GT, but the idea of the lighter front end sold me. I do lots of driving on mountain roads and this car loves being thrown into the corners. The IRS keeps it tightly planted to the ground without any sway. Hard switchbacks are nothing for this car. It's done everything I've thrown at it. You'll will enjoy yours.

Guess I'll be the dissenter: I hate my engine. Maybe theres something wrong with it, but it just sucks. It sounds terrible, there is zero power and the gas mileage is about what you would expect from a SUV or truck. Took it in to have it looked at just so its documented in case theres another Ecobust lawsuit; their diagnosis attempt was to have a tech drive it home overnight to see if he could get better mileage than me...never mind that it was filthy and the gas wasn't replaced.

Its a kick in the teeth to despise this thing so, since its my own fault; I shouldnt have passed on the GT because of its EPA rating and because I wanted something easy to mod. Not only is the GT faster out of the box but it also gets better mileage than mine. My last ditch effort will be a tune and if that doesn't help, its about to be "bye Felicia".

Looking forward to i4 vs v6 test drives, low end tourqe vs the longer power band intrigues me.

Sorry Obie, something is wrong with your car, your driving or your gasoline or something. I've driven the EB and it was nothing short of fantastic as an overall package, power/tq/mpg and that was with less than 10 miles on the odo.
I'd agree.

Obie, it seems like (based on other threads) you're pretty unhappy overall with your car, not just the engine. Sucks to hear and hopefully you can get it straightened out.

Yea I was going to say I've seen you writing about your displeasure for like a month now. Seems like you would have been better off selling it for a loss than keeping a car you disliked right off the bat.

But yea seems like something must be off with yours because it should be getting better mileage at least

I'd like to know from Ecobeast four drivers the following:

1) When cruising on the interstate at about 80mph, what rpm is the engine turning on the manual (probably same with the automatic)? My interstate driving is in states with 75 or 80 mph speed limits so when my I-4 is delivered I will be cruising at 80 in sixth gear often.

2) How is the acceleration from stop light or stop sign from 0-5 or 0-10 mph?

Thanks - ranchero -

Sounds terrible...its a 4 cylinder turbo, did you expect something else?
Zero power...care to elaborate?
GT has better MPG...what kind of #'s are you getting?
A lot us of bought the EB sight unseen, I'm surprised it missed your expectations by so much.

I highly doubt the GT gets better mileage than the EcoBoost...

I love my eco-boost PP. But I hated the stock exhaust system. Stock muffler sound is muted and unimpressive IMO. So the first mod I had installed was Ford Racing axle back exhaust system. Catback would have been nice, added hp, but didn't want the engine drone noise with the resonator delete. Incredible improvement in sound with the axle back, tips look sharp, stock do not, and definitely better air flow out. Recommend aftermarket exhaust. You will not regret.
CAI next maybe. Need more info whether it is worth it. But without it the Eco still pulls strong. In sport it has the torque you need. And I am pretty sure I am still under 3000 rpm at 75-80 mph. Gas mileage is not nearly as good as projected by Ford. I am getting 23-24 overall. But I am sure I would be getting at most 16 with the GT!

I've had my Ecoboost Premium non/PP for almost a month. I've racked up close to 800 miles running on 93 octane. I average between 22-30mpg depending on my lead foot. I usually keep it on the Sport mode since it's more aggressive in response. Since I've mostly driven 4 cylinder cars, I'll say it's the fastest and best sounding one I've ever had. Although I'll wait for a better sounding exhaust that won't sound ricey otherwise I'll keep it stock. One day I'll make the jump to a GT but the Ecoboost is more than adequate.

Nice to read about so many initial positive experiences with the EB. I hope this engine turns out to be a big success for the Mustang.
