Couldn't see spending the money on an oil separator I could make in a few hours on a mill and a lathe. So, I designed and built my own.

There's an o-ring seal in the cup and an extension tube to keep the gasses from short circuiting the separator.

The extension tube sits a couple of mm from a metal screen in the bottom of the cup. You can see the lip the screen sits on in the previous pic. There's also a round breather-foam insert that sits on top of the screen that helps draw oil out of the crankcase vapor on its way out.

Once the machining was done, I painted it with VHT wrinkle black. Then made a bracket to bolt it to the strut tower. I tried to duplicate the factory look with the hoses, using flex loom to cover them and leaving it cut short of the ends. Sort of like the radiator hose and several others.

Very cool. I'm actually going to mod my JLT for my Whipple setup for now. Cool to see someone else build the bracket like I want and extend the hoses out.

Great job OP. I went with a Bobs separator. I was not terribly happy with the "default" installation using the supplied bracket. Your installation looks really clean. I wish I had access to a mill.... And the skills to run one!

Wow, that is a beautiful piece. Great job!

You should make another one for the drivers side!

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it.

I have an update after about 750 miles or so. The separator collected about a tbsp. of oil in the bottom and the filter absorbed another tbsp. or so as well. I checked the outlet and there's little to no oil getting by the separator.
