I was recently thinking about buying the JLT on AM but didn't know if the benefits outweigh the cost (cheap, but still).

Anyone here have good success using one? Also, does this pull codes? There's a note at the bottom that this is intended for off-road/hwy use only on the website.

I've got the jlt and I get about an ounce of oil out of it every oil change approx 4k miles. It doesn't throw code.

Awesome.

I didn't want to run into some Emissions BS or otherwise come next inspection. I'm thinking about this and the sound tube delete.

I’ve got the JLT as well and it’s nice. No codes and you’d have no inspection issues.

Like ZRussian said I get about 1-1.5oz collected in mine. It’s worth having since it keeps it out of the intake.

JLT passenger side oil catch can was my first mod ever back in the day when the driver side wasn’t even available yet.

Btw, anyone here using a JLT driver side, is it worth it? I mean does it catch as much oil as the passenger side if any? TIA

They call drivers side the “clean” side. You don’t need it. Even boosted, I get nothing on drivers side, but quite a bit on passenger

My 1st mod as well purchased at 300 miles. Now at 17,000 miles. No problems at all.

The JLT unit will not effect emissions. It is simply a trap that captures oil off of the PCV valve return to the intake on the car. If anything it is actually beneficial to emission because without them the oil vapor that gets returned to the intake can burn and cause emissions that the catalytic converter may not be able to scrub. So this should make all the earth people get fuzzy hard ons when they realize that they are trapping the oil and retaining ti rather than burning it out the exhaust pipe.

The main reason for these is on forced induction applications where large changes in differential pressure cause additional oil vapor to be pulled back into the intake and collect over time. The oil will build up on the intercooler in the intake effecting IAT temps (inhibits heat removal from the air) and collects in the intake and puddles. The puddling can and will eventually effect efficiency of the engine combustion process causing detonation which will rob power from the process and induce potential drive ability issues as well.

Why the unit is labelled off road use according to the claim I do not know. It is a 100% sealed unit and emits nothing to atmosphere. It does not replace of inhibit any emissions system on the car or effect the performance or emissions output (except in a good way) at all. My guess would be is that it has been labeled as such as an over reach of the emissions laws in some states that makes some politician feel accomplished over something he/she knows dick about.

And this is why MA has been sucking the fun out of modding for the past several years.

Yeah, I'm ordering one tomorrow along with new filters (need to be replaced).

Now I'm doing the sync 3 update. 15 mins to go!

^^^ Pokee-haunts-all-of-us and her crew of self entitled elite half wits don't like it when middle class Americans work hard enough to afford something a little nicer than what they deem to be a practical possession/need of the working class. Wants and desires are only to be indulged in by high society "educated" folk of privilege. Use to be an awesome Mustang car show up there in Staybridge, MA years ago. I had a customer up there that was telling me about it. Planned to make a drive up there for it but never got around to it.

I use the UPR passenger side one that mounts by the radiator. First mod on the car and it works quite well. Captured a good amount on the first oil change. Looks nasty mixed with condensation.

I installed a JLT 3.0 on the passenger side a little while ago. It really goes to show you how volatile your oil is.

One thing that I do not think was said here is that oil vapor will lower the octane of the intake charge. Instantly. This can result in timing being pulled, especially with things like the Ford Performance calibrations. This means power being left on the table.

FYI if this is rated as not emissions legal I can almost 99% guarantee you it is because the PCV system is considered a federal emissions system and installing the oil separator is considered tampering with the configuration of a certified system.

Another JLT 3.0 user. Never a single issue. You just have to remember to empty the catch can. Maybe it's b/c of the humidity where I live, but my can is about a third full every 30 days or so, but I put about 1800 miles a month on my car. Most of the folks on this forum are enthusiasts or at least budding enthusiasts and are under the hood every couple of weeks anyway. It just becomes habit that when I open the hood to wipe things down after washing the car I say "Oh, the catch can...." and I empty it. I've probably dumped a gallon of oil/vapor out of there in the past two years; it's worth every penny.

Highly suggest adding one of these. I made one of these years ago on my Foxbody, it keeps all the oil from getting into your intake.
