hopefully, the deer’s family doesn’t sue.

Wouldn’t surprise me if PETA figures out a way to do just that.
Watching the news yesterday seeing PETA members super gluing their hands to a Starbucks front counter. They were wearing T-shirts that said “not your mom, not your milk”. Protesting Starbucks charging more for soy milk vs cows milk.
The world has gone completely bonkers.

Man, that sucks !!
I wish the best for ya, which I think would be having it declared a total loss.

Can someone explain to me how the 'diminished value' angle works?

Im having a tough time understanding why it would be beneficial to claim diminished value in a case like this.

Because if they fix it, your car is worth less if you ever sell it.

Let’s say 10k less w accident repaired. So diminished would give you a 10k check on top of fixing car. To offset the future loss

I see, the insurance company writes you a check after paying for the repairs to offset the "diminished value" of the car after the accident.

I never knew there was such a thing.

Because it isn’t a thing everywhere, not everywhere has the ability to collect it

We bought my gf’s car 2 years ago for 6k. (Got a deal) then some girl pulled in front of me and i t boned dat ass. Anyway, they fixed our car up, and gave us 2k for her diminished value. Worked out because her bumper wasn’t the best condition from previous owner. So it’s like my gf paid 4K and got a fresh paint job and all that jazz

Then I just got paid another 30k settlement for me hitting her. She went left out of right lane to bypass a bunch of people, sucks to be her. I took her entire policy. That insurance co and that chic is pissssssed

But fact is, diminished value up adds up for cars, and insurance will never tell you about it. You have to request it

Oh and another stipulation that I think is wide spread is, if it’s your fault, like you hit someone else, you can’t claim diminished value on your or their insurance. Even after your car is fixed. Has to be not your fault.
