My dealer never gapped the NGK plugs at time of the Whipple install and ended up destroying the cats after about 7,000 miles. Oddly enough, the car ran great for the first 6,000 miles without a single misfire or hiccup.

Since the cats were toast, I purchased Kooks 1 7/8 with the non green high flow cats and dealer absorbed the cost of installation. I didn't want to go catless, as its my only daily driver and wanted to have it somewhat tame for when the wife rides with me.

I can't say how long the cats would have lasted if the plugs were gapped correctly from the get go.

You'll know when they go bad when you start to get a sulfur smell after WOT runs, or when your gas mileage starts to tank.

I bought the long system. Everything except the mufflers. I guess it would fit right?

Keep in mind boost will drop as well, making your motor more efficient. I just had cat deletes installed this week and I went from 14.5 psi down to 11-12 on a D1X.

Really??? How I thought your boost would go up without cats?
Boost/psi is a measure of restriction. If you remove cats you remove the restriction in the exhaust pipe, meaning the engine can "breathe" and get rid of all that air easier. In turn this drops boost.

Not a bad thing though, as said it makes everything more efficient. You can up your boost again after you remove the cats if you like.

Here's somebody running an 18 mani on a Vortech V3. Picked up solid gains. https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101382

You can see there that the manifold design also affects boost.

I'm putting an 18 manifold on my P1X car soon as well. My stock intake flatlined around 7k. Lund convinced me the 18 mani is 99% as good as the GT350 for a fraction of the cost, so that's the route I went. Hoping to pull to 7500+

I have been running stock cats on my procharged car for about 4k miles, but when I get on it there is a slight smell which has me paranoid of eventual failure, as soon as I figure out how to get around the state inspection I will pop on some Cat Deletes from Mak, The other route I considered were Electric Cutouts, Open them up on some hard runs and close them up to keep noise levels down when driving normally

For what it’s worth I’ve got a little over 10k miles with a Procharger installed. No problems yet. Just keep an eye on your cat temps when you first load
The tune and go WOT. My first tune revision had something set wrong and let the cats get up above 1900*F, since that correction they get to 1600ish if I’m hammering it which I do most days since it’s my daily driver.

really depends on power level as far as if you have to get rid of cats

I hoping for 700 plus. With those numbers... what do you think beefcake? How long can I ride around with cats before I have to go catless with that amount of power? Is it something I have to do immediately if I'm making 700 plus? My blower set up below

Vortech jt trim v7
8 rib pulley upgrade
Id1000 injectors
JLT intake for vortech kit
VMP boost a pump
Beefcake torque booster kit (turbosmart hypergate45 wastegate)
Turbosmart e-boost boost controller
3.15 pully
