So I have a 15 Mustang Gt , bone stock , and I went to a shop ,which claims that theyre experts in audio and installations, and they tell me that my setup would outshort the capacity of the cars altenator since it runs to low of amps and as well the wires for the complete system which the car already uses would have to be modified to be able to make my setup work.

So my setup is the following

SPEAKERS
JL Zr650-csi 2 way component
JL AUDIO HD-600/4 AMP OR
JL AUDIO SLASH 450/4

SUBWOOFER
1 -JL 10"W7
AMP JL SLASH V2 500/1

They tell me that the new amp require less energy from the battery to put out the watts which my setup is required but it makes a big difference going from Slash to Hd amps since The Hd are more effective

Can anybody verify if this setup is going to cost me problems by going with slash amps?

OHM's law never lies.

Step #1. What is the amperage of the stock alternator. (160 maybe)

Step #2, add the extra power expected from your new amps. p (power) / v (voltage) = i (current / amperage)

JL AUDIO HD-600/4 AMP - (2400 watts / 13.4 volts = 180 amp max draw)

Step #3, Add the factory draw from the mustang (guessing 100 amps).

So you have a potential of 280 amp draw from the alternator with everything turned on and cranking out music and all your heaters on.

So yes. they are correct. You will very easily be over drawing your stock alternator.

so the only way to run that set up is with newer amps? Can you put a capasitor in there or something

v8ter I think what they are trying to tell you is the Slash series amps need a lot of current and that the HD series amps are far more efficient. I am a JL dealer and I don't sell the Slash series amps just for this reason. They are awesome amps but they are power hungry. Today's vehicles charging systems aren't up to the challenge of your amps. We have so much stuff running off the charging system factory that there wouldn't be much left over for your amps. One of two things can happen, you can damage the alternator over time or damage your amps due to lack of voltage.

Both amps are 950w total 500/1 and 450/4
950w / 13.4 = 71 still over but not as bad

Why not just run a 900/5 HD amp? Get a Clean Sweep and a Signal Summing Device and call it a day!

I was wondering that to if the only thing that gets damaged is the Altenator or the amp itself then I could go risk it,but I like the idea of the hd 900/5

Has anyone had or listened to the Zr650 ?

if you have the base audio system then you won't need a signal summing device. The front factory components are already tied together with a simple capacitor for the tweeter. If you are going to use an HD900/5 and you want more voltage going into the amp (signal voltage), then you can use the Clean Seep or an LC7 (which is what I would recommend) from Audio Control. The LC7 gives you summing if you need it and it has AcuBase built into it which fixes the problem with the factory roll off that a lot of new factory systems have built into them to protect speakers. Most factory amplified systems roll the low frequencies off as you turn up the volume. The Accubase feature in the Audio Control units allows you to tune this into your aftermarket amp so you don't lose the lows when turning the volume up.

From somebody that competed in the Midwest for the last 12 years and ran a 3000 watt stable system on a stock jeep grand cherokee alt. They are just trying to sell you BS.

1. Dont ask anyone at any audio shop what to buy, Or buy anything from them.
2. Dont buy JL audio anything. Unless you already have it :(
3. Get on some forums and ask questions about what is best for your money you want to spend. Buy it all online and then take it to a local shop for installation only.

I would suggest looking into Sundown, kicker, Alpine, or Digital designs for amps. Then take a look at Fi car audio, Digital designs, sundown, etc for subs. Any of these options will be louder and sound better than any JL system if set up properly. It will also cost you half as much..Literally

If you would like I could link you a couple options depending on what kind of sound your wanting and how much room you want to sacrifice. There is no way a 500-1000 watt system would put any stress on your stock alt.
