First look: JL audio system amp rack

It’s been months in the making but I finally installed the amp rack in my full audio build.

Top to bottom:
JL Audio VX600/2i
JL Audio VX1000/1i
JL Audio VX800/8i

Other items are JL Audio VXi Hub, SMD volt meter, SMD fuse block (used as a terminal block), Blue Sea fused distro block, Bosch 30amp relay (hidden under top amp), and TSPEC fused distro block (with integrated remote lead distribution).

Front three-way components are JL Audio C7, rears are JL Audio C5-650X coaxials. Subs will be a pair of JL Audio 12W3v3 in a sealed box.

Full build log to come once I have everything buttoned up.

Very clean/neat/precision install!

I'm assuming you have bypassed everything that was factory linked via SYNC?

What are you using as the backer board in the tire well?

Thanks! I’m using the PAC Amp Pro to pull the signal so no stock stuff will be reused other than the door speaker wiring.

Amp rack is 3/4 MDF and painted in Krylon Hammered Black with satin clear coat.

Its been a long time since i did any car audio upgrages. But i loved JL Audio back then. Looks likeba clean install. Is the sound deadening throughout or just the trunk and doors?

I used 8 rolls throughout the car. Only part I didn’t touch was the firewall and roof.

Lol well to be honest I screwed up my box. I measured the opening between the wheel wells and didn’t account for the curvature of the trim panels. I’m now building a second box that will actually fit

oh I’ve had multiple setbacks, thankfully none of them were extreme.

Oh I can relate. I had to change my tune date because of a hiccup. Hoping to get tuned this coming Thursday. I too may make changes to my board later. In my case, I could have made it a bit longer in the rear...on the flip side, my new tire repair kit, fits tightly behind the board.

I’m also ready for a tune other than my subs. I actually have to listen to my phone speaker when I drive to work cause I haven’t tuned it yet

lol same here with the phone speaker, though I haven't driven it a couple of times since putting everything back together. It is going to be a 2 hr drive to the audio shop for the tuning. Almost thinking about sitting a BlueTooth speaker in the front seat lol.

Lol yep, I’ve been searching for a JL Audio Max tuner and there are non within 4 hours of me. I did find one guy who offered to meet me at his buddy’s shop about halfway between us.
