As title say Automatic Trans Drive to Reverse, Reverse to Drive everytime i do this there is this sound [Clang] and it takes like 2seconds to really sit on that gear. Is this a common problem/issue with automatic trans? Thanks guys

Something is definitely WRONG with that transmission, it should be spot on when you change gears, there is NO lag in my S197 A/T take it in to the dealer and have them tear it down to fix it.

Same here. You're not alone on this one. When I shift from reverse to drive, I have to wait a good 2 seconds before I start to move otherwise the car hesitates and is jerky.

This is a common problem. Check the first page of the issues section. Mine does it too

Mine needs to be replaced. As well as truck alignment.
I am gonna call around see what the dealers say about this.

Automatics are not instantaneous. They need a second or two for everything to move into place. Remember, they are just large, hydraulic pumps. Been like this since the dawn of time since the Hydramatic days of the 1940's.

I don't have the 2-second gear "delay" you speak of (yet), but definitely the clank sound when changing between D and R...and not all the time. Started happening a few months ago. Service department wants to keep the car a couple of days to fix it so I have been putting it off. It's more of an inconvenience thing than an annoyance at the moment.

Are you coming to a complete stop before shifting?
Hello Wesley...I believe there's still a little movement in the reverse direction. Do you think that would cause this slight hesitation ?

I don't notice this on a stop while on D though.
