Mighty sorry about the discovery, Tom and obviously, I agree with everyone else. At least I know ahead of time how bad it may be on mine. Damn sad, really and I sure hope Tob's suggestion to Mr. Owens gets through. Saving pennies, no doubt.
I plan to put an extra layer of xpel under the mounts. Possibly use your template. Those knuckleheads over at FoMoCo should have done something similar..... Some kind of protection from abrasion and compression between the paint and the O ring.

Idiots. This and the rest of the damage screams of "I don't give a crap".

I like to disassemble things.
Due to the size of the bracket footprint, the o-ring is really a good way to go about it. That's assuming the bracket isn't over-tightened such that the o-ring is completely smashed to the point of offering no real cushion for the assembly and the bracket rides directly on the paint. A flat gasket might be apt to squish out over time after considering it further.
You hit all the relevant points.

In addition, any portion of gasket that completely covers the footprint that isn't under compression via the base bracket perimeter could trap condensate. I'd stick with good paint prep, proper cure, and the factory o-ring only.

KB, it was my pleasure.

My PPF guy is putting down at least 2 layers under the mounts. Hopefully that will reduce or prevent further damage.

Copy all, Tob and I figured the major concern was moisture. I wondered about the o-ring until I took another look at the underside photo. I thought that ridge was part of the mount, not a rubber o-ring but it's clear now. I think I'll just use either adhesive vinyl or xpel film to cover the painted areas and, help prevent a mishap during re-installation. No moisture should find it's way under either of those.

Definitely going to add PPF under the brackets, even if there is a O-Ring.

Wow. I am the latest victim of the crap deck lid work. My (dealership) body shop removed the wing and holy crap.....

They are finding all kinds of problems with the paint/body. Panel misalignments, paint chips associated with assembly, clear coat defects.

If you have a CFTP, you might want to have a look.

I mean WTF Ford....... You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

GattmanLa & Tomster,

Just looking for confirmation on the wing for another thread (CFTP MPR) the bracket is made out of carbon fiber and painted black? Or is it metal? Looking at GattmanLa's picture this looks like carbon fiber if its off a 2020 GT500. I was under the impression it was metal brackets. can either of you confirm for sure?

And can either of you take full pics of one of the brackets, I see the underside but I want to see it upright if at all possible, most videos fly by too quick to pause and tou guys have it apart already :)

I will confirm when I get the car back. I didn't take those photos.

AoD: I don't know if these will help, but here are a couple shots of the bracket.
Thanks KB, actually it does help, the shots you took does look like they are painted CF brackets and not metal as suspected.

AoD: A magnet won't stick and tapping the bracket sure SOUNDS like it's CF. Glad the photos helped.
Somebody is up early again.......

Cast aluminum maybe? I'm not saying with any certainty, because i haven't laid my hands on them.
