It’s not built for people like you. Or me for that matter.
It's the trophy wife(car) to be seen having for an ego. Like the Shelby's it will be a cars and coffee toy , that spends most of it's time in a climate controlled garage . Sad really.
If I had duck you money. I'd drive the wheels off it. After I had Foose design a better dash set up.

I agree it makes the GTD look more impressive which I don’t think the C8 times were needed to validate. But I think it’s more of is the cost worth it pertaining to performance. ZR1 is much less and faster around that specific track.

I really wish Ford would do like how Chevy did and do popular track around the US. I assume majority of their order will be US based customers so why not advertise on the tracks the customers will most likely visit?

I’m curious on COTA, VIR, Road Atlanta, Sonoma, Watkins Glen times.
This GTD is going to be GM's best marketing item. You can buy the ZR1 and your wife A catty and still have a nice down payment for that vacation home. Or A Ford.

GM doesn’t need the GTD to market the ZR1. Everyone knows the ZR1 from previous generations and the numbers for the C8 ZR1 speak for themselves

And if you don't understand why, well then I don't really get why you're here...
read my 10000+ posts then maybe you'll get it.

Maybe, but unless it is your first day back from under a rock, the Ford Vs Chevy is still tooth and nail battle. A few ego digs back and forth is why we have the 2nd coming of h/p. and performance. It is healthy.

This reminds me of years ago watching Indy quals and practice. The pro in the car was complaining. The owner of the car got in it and cranked off a very good qualifying lap. Got out and said nothing wrong with the car, push the pedal down. The idea that someone that is said/seen as a pro doesn’t nexessarily make them faster then some one else that isn’t. The guy in the ZR1 was no amateur, and was for sure a “pro” level driver. It was no coincidence GM had him do the run either. If there was any hint of an issue there he wouldn’t of been in the car. A great point of reference is Isle of Man. There’s not a Motogp rider that would ever do event. They’re ”pro’s”, and the Isle guys aren’t.
If you think there is no decent time difference between an actual pro driver (like the GTD driver) and the engineer that drove the ZR1 (hint: he doesn’t race cars professionally), then there is nothing I can say to you at this point. Please remember teams pay big bucks to actual race car drivers because seconds matter at this level. Don’t you think profit-motivated team owners would throw a “second class” guy in the drivers seat to save a few million bucks if they could? They 100% would. The fact that they don’t tells you all you need to know. :)

Jay Leno is going to have one or two of each car referenced in this thread really soon. I too wish I could buy them all, cause I would.

Ok. Makes perfect sense. GM didn’t have a top tier driver at their disposal with a pro card. And put in a hack to save money or for some other misconceived reason. I take it you’ve never been on a track, car or bike, where a technically non pro was faster then the “Pro”’s.

Well, ask yourself: did they need a pro driver to beat the GTD? Nope. So if the GTD manages to get a slightly faster time down the road, GM can now say: “OK, now we’ll use a pro driver too”. No reason for GM to empty the magazine up front.

And you never answered my question from the last post… ;)

He already has his GTD and I would very much expect him to have a ZR-1 and/or ZR-1X

I run in a pro class group and hit it pretty hard, however I am no pro driver. Some of those guys can do things that I can't do...... but I can hang with them and hold my own.

To the point, I've seen the videos of both drivers (Ford and Chevy), and although the engineer for Chevy certainly wasnt Ford's Dirk, he did a decent job. I saw times where I thought his line was a little sloppy and it certainly could be improved upon. On the other hand, I thought Dirk's line was solid.

With that said, I think that if you put a professional behind the wheel of that Chevy, there will be a better time.

Im not for or against anyone or anything here, only making observations based on a similar skillset as the so called "hack".

Someone made a good point, instead of bickering about Ford vs Chevy, we should be celebrating these advancements in performance.

For a while, it was looking like everyone was on track to just bow out and play the electric car game. Like you and others have said, it’s a good thing these 2 are pushing and competing. Hopefully it remains that way for a while.

Since both companies are fully committed to racing I think there’s a pretty good bet that the competition will go forward. And that’s great for all car enthusiasts!!

Bow out, you mean mandated out. Why would anyone put R&D funds into something that looked like it was going to be regulated out of production. Once reality slapped everyone back to earth and out of unicorn fairtale land. They are back working on better/faster/quicker.
No matter what the talking heads state the future is ice/hybrid and ev and maybe fuel cell.
The sooner everyone gets on board with that reality the better off everyone will be.
