What if I told you that Ford was sitting on that very car, well into development? The big shocker...plans are/were to offer both a DCT or the manual. Just less than 600hp. Program has a pretty cool name too that I shan't mention yet. With CAFE constraints out the window and nothing in between the Dark Horse and the GTD, my guess is that it is going to be approved...

Where do you see pricing coming in for something like that, Tob? CFTP type pricing or C8 Z06/ZR1 type pricing?
I see it this way. The last GT500 offered up was somewhere in the 115k range for a loaded up top dog. Prices of everything have obviously gone up since then. I could see something between 110-120k for a normally aspirated, mag wheels instead of CF, DCT or TR3160 shifted car. They do an SLA...they are in the 125k range. And that is key because once you hit 125k you are nearing a much bigger market in terms of competition. Those are my thoughts anyway and I don't think Ford can ignore going a step above the DH for too much longer. The GTD is a giant step above that the majority don't consider viable. A junior GTD on the other hand...

I did, great looking ride as well, from an aesthetics perspective, I much prefer the GTD.
So I've been looking every now and then for the EPA and CARB certifications for the GTD. Nothing came up after a few months of checking so I slacked for a bit. Was just about to turn off the computer for the night and I figured I'd take a quick look. Finally, the application and certification for the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD showed up.
I like to compare model years to see the data for allowable emissions. In this case, how the 2025 GTD compares to the 2020-2022 GT500 since they use the "same" engine. There have been some minor tweaks done to the 2025 version of the 5.2L engine that Ford hasn't talked about and sometimes these reports give you insight into the changes made.
The reports also list various weight and capacity data. Finally, curb weight. Holy shit, the GTD is indeed a fatty.
I think the tank is 16 gallons which would work out to about 97 lbs. So with an empty tank and nobody in the car it weighs 4,246 lbs (or 4,343 lbs with a full tank of gas).
I went and pulled the certification reports for a 2020 GT500 for comparison. Weight was 4,107 lbs (or 4,204 lbs with a full tank of gas).
The 2025 GTD is officially a full blown fatty.
With all the CF on this car, yes I did expect sub-4k lbs.Tightened it up a bit. Did anyone really think this was coming in under 4000lbs? But did anyone expect these numbers? And Tom’s not going to like the gas tank capacity.
