This isn’t directed at you at all. Its always cracked me up when people complain about fuel economy and hp. Our cars(500’s) are like echo’s compared to what I use to be in to(boats). The big cubic inch stuff I ran had duel 1150’s on a motor and some setups had twins. Not sure if they’ve considered it but pointing out the need for an option for a larger fuel cell(even if its only 4-5 gallons) would be huge for some. If Ford wouldn’t consider it as part of the program Multimatic just may.

325-350K? Keep going. And yes, I completely agree.

I know the shortcomings of the 500. Many of which were carried over to the GTD.

Those shortcomings are what concen me. I run out of gas (fuel starvation) before finishing a 30 min session. They know about it. Whether they fix it or not? I'm an isolated example. Most won't have that problem.

Pedal on the right, press hard, lol

I get it. But at the end of the day, the car has to run 30 mins foot on the floor without fuel starvation issues.

I’m very curious what packages/options will be offered.

I would really like to see a dedicated track package.

You clearly have no idea what the Gtd is or have any idea how the car is being developed. About the only thing that’s production on the car is portions of the drive train. It shares very little with any other vehicle Ford produces, and actually any other vehicle produced. Porsche for example on the 911 line can easily change the configuration for what’s being produced and the particular build spec. The same goes for Ferarri for most of their line, same for Lamborghini. Ford itself isn’t set up to do such a low run of vehicles, which is why Multimatic is doing the production. They’re by no means remotely the same animals. Just like the Gt. The Gtd’s will be hand built for the most part, it is what it is. Can be a good thing depending on the quality of the labor being done or a bad thing conversely. The Gt for example a buyer could get a special livery if the buyer wanted. Multimatic would do it. I can’t think of a single oem that offers that for example. Go look at what’s produced by Multimatic under the Ford badge. There is a major difference there then with the european oems. As for the paying over market, regardless of the oem, generally speaking people that buy at that level are far from not being money savey, it’s contradictary.
It's still a steel unibody with a majority of shelf components from Ford racing's deep catalog and wide body kit and some other bespoke outsourced parts. Probably don't even need to do a separate crash test. Certainly way simpler to build than a full carbon Ferrari or Lambo.

It's a great marketing halo car for Ford and way easier than the GT40s.

It's a street legal, basically handbuilt race car. I doubt there will be very many options

Agreed. I just wonder what they will consist of. I've mentioned this in Tom's other thread but I would like to see a "track package". Titanium roll bar, bucket seats, 6 pt harness, and some form of Lap timer software. Ford/Multimatic should use their relationship with Recaro and Sparco to come up with something. I cant imagine a company designing a car that will sustain as much lateral force and still rely on a 3pt seat belt and a seat that is similar in the $80k car (GT500).

This is me and my small gripe with a car I will never own or dont have the opportunity to currently get lol

If you recall, Ford had a section on their site where you could configure a Ford GT. I don’t remember all the options but from what I recall there wasn’t much in the way of packages. Just stuff like paint colors, stripe options, wheels, additional CF, etc. The only real “package” I remember is the Carbon Edition, which consisted of more CF panels and CF wheels I believe. They all have the active rear wing, adjustable ride height, etc as far as I know. Like GTD, it’s a race car built to be street legal. Not much optionality really needed.

Maybe they provide more optionality for GTD (they are allowing customers to pick just about any color they want, for example), but given they are hand built and take more time to assemble, I can’t imagine there’s going to be a whole lot in the way of options/packages.

Hopefully Tom, Charlie and others that got allocations are able to share some of those details when they get their build kits from Ford.

It's no secret order preference sheets are going out now. I have not received mine yet, but was told they will be sent soon.

That will probably have the options and prices. If I'm allowed to share, I will do so.

Would also be cool if Ford put up a configurator on their site for GTD like they did for the GT. Would be cool to “build” one online for those of us that couldn’t get one. Probably sounds corny to some, but I like doing stuff like that.

Have they confirmed the curb weight yet? It feels like they should (for 350k at least) have been able to get the car down to 3300-ish. I'll say that while I did see a quote around this # once, I also arrived at nearly this value via many hours trying to figure out ways to reduce weight on a CFTP GT500 if I went all out on composite parts, CCBs, titanium bits etc. A fun academic exercise.

I think you are shy by about two Oprah's (at her fattest).

Seriously.

I’m all for that. I remember doing that during the S197 generation on dial up internet and holding up the phone line lol.

That’s how some dreams become reality.
