Anyone go with the Ford recommended track alignment settings yet? I think i'm going to give it a shot before my next event. I also saw the manual recommends dropping tire pressure to 28 PSI.

I like to disassemble things.
You may find difficulty in achieving the recommended track settings, specifically with respect to camber. Caster/camber plates, such as those from MM, etc, are likely to be needed.

I have a track day next Friday at Laguna Seca. I have not yet changed the alignment to the track specs. I plan to do my first event totally stock to establish a baseline of performance, and then I'll start making changes from there. I suspect that I will be changing the alignment pretty quickly after that first day though!

There is a well known shop nearby that does track alignments for many vehicles, and I noticed (while dropping off a co-worker who was getting his 2016 Viper ACR aligned) that they had caster/camber plates for the Mustang. So I may be investing in some of those as well.

what shop, may I ask? Any chance it's TC? I ask because they'd told me that they'd aligned a customers GT350 and could only get ~1.3* neg camber in front and suggested I go straight to camber plates if I had any chance of getting full use out of the meat I have for front tires.

Turn 2 is murder on stock alignments. On my Boss, there was rather sickening noise as the tires were pushed out as it understeered through it. Really roasted the fronts with Pirelli Corsas on them. Totally fixed with c&c plates with 2.5 degrees camber.

That said, I had few issues on other tracks. Maybe turn 11 at Sonoma, but that's it.

This has nothing to do with Multimatic as far as I know. I received a track alignment settings card that came with my Track Pack Shelby - provided to me by Ford Performance. They recommend that alignment for track days only. If that requires mods as you suggest I may pass and just leave it stock. That didn't seem to be the case based on the manual.

I am that customer..

My Buddy's Tony and Joe gave it their best but we found there is no way to achieve the Ford "recommended track day alignment" without adding Camber plates and something adjustable in the rear. Ford did not do a good job on my car with cross camber (1.0 and 1.3) and the two lower bolts are splined and pressed in to the interface between the knuckle and the strut.

Just spent last weekend Coaching at Thunderhill 5 Mile with some minor TC Design Toe tweaks and the car was pretty good. Started at 26PSi and after two tanks of gas on the track the tires look untouched with Camber as "delivered".

Talked with Fillip at Cortex who is working on a Camber plate solution which Should/will be able to retain the OE spring top.

This was Custom Alignment in Mountain View.

I might have to check out TC, especially if they are gaining experience with La8apx's car!

My post had nothing to do with Multimatic. They don't sell caster/camber plates. I was referring to Maximum Motorsports, who sells caster/camber plates. Again, others have not been able to achieve the recommended camber settings without going to aftermarket plates.

Gotcha. Well only mod I plan on doing is a resonator delete. Unless the camber plates prove to be track essential - i'll wait to see more reports.

thanks for that.
I'm dropping my car off on Monday to have Tony build me 4pt rollbar. It's going to be hard to not have the car for the 10-14 days it'll take but it'll be well worth it given that I know Tony will build something outstanding. We'll also do an alignment and get what we can for camber, and do something for harness / seat set up. Tony recommended sticking with the stock seats for now and running Schroth's 4-pt ASM belts, as long as I can get seating position / helmet clearance to work. I had intended to go straight to a fixed-back seat / 6-pt setup but I respect Tony's opinion and think I'll give that a shot for the first few times out, at least.

Who are you coaching with / what groups do you usually run with?

I'll be a t-hill March 18 with CFRA but my first day out with the shelby will be march 10 at LS.

The only way to even get to Ford's recommended settings are caster camber plates or hog the lower strut holes. The problem with hogging the holes is you tip the top of the tire closer tobtge strut and either give up tire width or need bigger spacers. A friend tried the non splined Ford Racing bolts but you can't gain enough. I plan to fit a 315 R7 up front so bought a set of MM camber plates on their Black Friday sale. I'm just hoping some of the Southern owners can confirm we'll need somewhere in the neighborhood of -2.5-3.0 before installing mine. I am guessing if you're running all out on slicks or Hoosiers you will need more than what they are recommending for the stock wheels/tires.

Yes, my question for La8apx, what wheel/tire combo have you been running that seemed to work well enough with what you could align to in stock trim?

Who has the best CC Plates for these cars? I'll be running the Cup 2 tires, I would think all the negative camber you could get would be beneficial*.

*Speculation on my part, entirely.

I bought the Maximum Motorsports Mm6CC-10 and it fits the GT350 as well as the standard S550. I haven't installed mine yet, but a friend who has indicated you can gain 2* which would put you well over 3* if you wanted. I am waiting for some track info from him using an R7 to determine what optimal camber will be on this car with track tires. I would agree at this point with the speculation that more is better, but you do reach a point where it's too much and you compromise braking by diminishing the straight line contact patch. High -2.x* seemed about right on the S197. A friend running slicks with over 3* was debeading fronts until he reined it back in to around -2.8*

I'm told Vorshlag has developed an S550 camber plate and presumably it would work on the GT350 as well, but I would suggest calling them to confirm.
