That would be amazing if this car is that light. Should be under 3600lbs with a full tank of fuel.

**fingers crossed**

I would think it has to be a headline grabber. Why else would Ford hold the weight spec back?

Just searched old threads for the GT shipping weight. Found this one

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25972&highlight=GT+shipping+weight

It shows the GT Premium at 3600 lbs, when the car is really about 3800 lbs. it therefore seems likely that the GT350 shipping weight of ~3500 lbs will mean the car is more like 3700.

Thanks for bringing some sense into this thread. We don't need a lot of threads about how disappointed everyone is when they find out the 350 is more than 3500 lbs.

at least we know a track pack gt350 is about 100lb lighter than GT premium, which is not bad.

The 2015 GT ships at 3603lbs and the GT350 ships at 3512. I'm told the shipping weight is based on the BASE offering. None of the option weight is figured in... which is why there is always a holdup at the rail.

From GT to GT350 looks to be around 90lbs. The GT350's official curb should be 3615lbs (vs. the GT's 3705lbs). The Track Pack will add 20-40lbs unless some lightweighting was included. I would need to see the option list...

The GT350R now... suppose to be 130lbs less than the TP. Remember now, we can't be sure if some of the weight savings went to the base car overall. I assume not because the base MSRP is so low.

I'd say around M4 weight, 3550lbs for the R is pretty safe. Sh!t yourself if it's under 3400lbs...

Who cares about the also-ran z/28 built on an obsolete chassis? The rear tale of the tape will be what the next, Alpha-based, track-specific Camaro tips the scales at in a year or two.
Z/28 happens to be the only thing to directly compare to at this point, that's all. Besides, they still sell it ... it's not an obsolete chassis so far.

That makes great sense. A sub 3,400 lb GT350 ... R, even... would be astounding. :eyebulge:

Agreed! It would be like when the 6th came out and upset millions... or, when the new Camaro comes out and does the same! :p My current(it's changed a dozen times or so) bet on that car, Mustang territory, only... actually a little heavier in SS form while being almost exact in the lower trims. ;)

Probably a tad heavier than the ATS-V (It's 3760 Coupe, 3800 Sedan)

About 3750-3850lbs. I'd wager closer to 3770lbs. A fair 131lbs weight reduction...

I'm being slightly generous.

I thought the sedan was the lighter one?

I dunno - GM is claiming a 200-pound minimum weight reduction across all models of the new Camaro. I'll believe it when I see it.
Yeah, it doesn't really seem (at this point) it will come down to the typical interwebz claims.

The more we talk about it and hear about it, the more likely it ends up being what most of us expected from the start... a 3,750 3,800 lb sled. The thing is, 200 lb... okay, from a ZL1? LOL!

Even "just" a 2SS, that could be 3,771 lb and cover the "200 lb less." Most Camaro freaks(those hardcore- won't listen to reason for ANY... reason, types) will beg the idea that a 1LE tips the scales a bit over 3,700 and therefore... the 3,500 lb SS is BOUND to happen. Realistic people, conversely, simply won't be blinded by hope to that degree. We had the same here prior to the 2015 Mustang, of course.

We've seen (wishful thinking) claims that it will be 3,300 and that's simply not going to be the case, ever again. I don't see any Camaro model being that light and that includes a Z/28.

Sure, it could happen, but I doubt it will. Truth is, I'd be happy for GM and specifically for Camaro if it was and then, Ford would almost have to lose some weight on Mustang and finally, Dodge would have to address the Challengers diet.

The 15 V6 is listed just over 3,700 now, so it could lose 200 and still be over 3,500. Another thing though... the base model will be the 4cyl and that's more likely to "lose 200 lb" even though it's lost nothing, being brand new. By the same token, tha 3,771 lb SS could be "legit" based on the 2SS weight and Chevy isn't saying "2SS to 2SS" and so forth, just "at least 200 lb less."
