Autotrader has 296 used GT 350s. 22 used 350Rs. And this forum seems to have a ton considering it’s not a mass prod car. I think for $60k, it should be faster than a $38k 1SS regardless of its handling. And it’s not.
Didn't take long for you to show what you really thought, lol.

Have you ever driven one??
Nope. No need. Wasn’t going to write a check in full for $60k for one no matter what. Way more than I wanted to spend on a car and not worth it to me. But a check for literally half that for a Whippled garage queen? Yup.

For a lot of buyers, including myself, a standard Mustang GT is not even on their radar. Coming from Vettes, my number one requirement is that the car must handle, and a garden variety GT just doesn’t cut it.

Excellent thread and really good thoughts in here, capt and nom hit some strong points.
Tracking a GT PP or 1SS 1LE is way cheaper in track insurance vs GT350. If you are looking to start tracking, a GT PP or 1LE is a more cost effective starting point. If you will be tapped out just getting into GT350 track pack or 2017, then you likely cant afford to track it so whats the point? Impress guys?
If you can afford to track a 2017 GT350, do it.

1SS 1LE is insane track car for the money. 1SS ZL1, GrandSport, Z06 also must be mentioned. The track is the only place you can safely push/experience the capabilities of these cars.

GT350 non track pack likely cheapest way to drive around the street in a GT350 if thats the goal.

If you are just going to drive street: TT or Whippled GT.
They are so much fun and very durable 650-700 RWHP. They can still be tracked. Tracked my 6R80 Whippled this past year and it held up great. Killed one diff but that was my fault staying WOT and catching air out of turn 3 at TWS. Spun up inside rear and it tried to hook as car landed at 80+, lol. Diff said FU and LSD died ($300 swap). On road course, this car does not corner like GT350, 1SS 1LE, GT350R, GrandSport, Z06. ...but it is hella fun

Full disclosure: last track car was NSX, and rolling around streets w a Whippled GT debadged to look like an Ecoboost is extra hella fun.

No offense - but why does performance matter to you at all? Garage queen

I probably have more miles on my '17 R... and it is and will remain worth more than your garage queen while I drive the crap out of it and you preserve yours that's now worth maybe what my wheels cost? Who's paying more per mile, again?

My nephew owns a 1SS Camaro.

I know for a fact your last sentence is false. Lol

What kills me about this debate is that either way the car will be a garage queen. These cars are just cars meant to be driven! Even more than your average Camary. Why do so many people feel the need to preserve their car for the next guy or girl that owns it? Yes I take very good care of my Gt350, but I drive it as much as I can. That is the joy of owning such a car to me. I had modified 2014 pp Gt before my Gt350. It was a great car but mot in the same league as the Gt350. I know that a 2018 pp would be a closer comparison but without the motor in the Gt350 no way for me. The free revving 5.2 sound is what makes the car for me.

Well in comparison to the GT350, the 458 is significantly slower around a track and significantly more expensive. IMO the 458 is way cooler, but that's not the main reason I buy a car (plus I can't afford one).

I'm sure you were being sarcastic to the GT350/1SS comparison but in case you weren't I had no chance keeping up with one at NJMP :hail:

Garage Queen-as in previous owner put 5500 mi in 2.5 yrs in his Whippled GT.
I drive it weekly. And your “worth more” nonsense? You PAID more. Way more. So who cares lol.

My PP with Steeda sways handles good enough for me.

While the track aspect of this car is not lost on me, it is the grand tourer identity that I bought it for and have had only smiles from it. Putting on up to a thousand miles in one day with almost no fatigue in the recaros and rowing through gears whenever possible, it sure seems to fit a long distance spirited performance vehicle definition, even if it's not in a race except in my own mind or tag teaming with another performance car. Can it be used as a daily driver? Sure. Is it be a very capable 20 minute track session car? Absolutely. But don't forget it tours great too.

OP talked about fun street car, not daily driver. For that use, I have to wonder if anyone who is debating this has actually driven the GT350? For personal reasons, I downgraded from mine to a 2017 GTPP this summer. I haven't smiled in it yet and actually despise it at this point. I've quit putting mods in it, because no matter what I do, it won't be as fun as the GT350. Plan to trade or sell it, probably within next 6 months. I drove a Roush S3 to see if I supercharged my GT whether I would like it. Nope, yeah it's fast as hell, faster than the GT350, but it still doesn't have that special experience. It just felt like a boosted GT. The only car I'm willing to cross-shop in 2018 against another GT350 is the E92 M3.
