I'm technically supposed to have one on my cars, but I haven't in about fifteen years. I've gotten a handful of warnings, but never a ticket. I'm sure some states are more anal about it, but Texas hasn't been in my experience.

Same in Ilinois. I live in Chicago proper and they will ticket you in a heartbeat. But, my plan is to drive it outside the city. We'll see :-)

When in Texas it is required, but it seems like an add on ticket in most counties.

I carry around a printout of the state laws about license plates when I drive my '70 Mustang around. I've been told by a cop previously that I had to have both plates on it. He was wrong, but it could be very irritating to get a ticket and then have to fight it. I only got warned by him, so who knows, I might be able to drive around without a front plate here in MN as well. I'm more of a rule follower though, so I don't plan to try it.

It's always Troopers. However, in general, as long as you come up clean and are polite - a warning is what you'll get. However, there IS a $200.00 fine for it now, and have heard it's being used more robustly since the fine is now active. It wasn't as of just a year or two ago, but the statue was amended to provide a punishment.

Because it is a punishable offense, most will simply use it as probable cause to pull you over with, just because.

I won't be putting one on my R, either. Lol.

I put them on my cars that I don't care about the looks of. My DD is a Chevy Sonic, couldn't care less about a front plate on that. Haha!

Vinyl wrap the roof for $100 and be done with it. Saves you $500+

I had the same thing happen with my R, but received a call after I sent them numerous emails about members who have ordered that combo together...it's definitely doable..
