Generally, it's a tax write-off for Ford, not the person who bought it - that person paid for a car. Perhaps with enough creative accounting one could write of the difference between MSRP/appraisal of an item and what you would pay for it through charity, or maybe they broker the deal so that you pay MSRP and 'donate' the rest in lieu of a single transaction. *shrug*

During the auction they said anything over MSRP is tax deductible.

What are all the options going to be I wonder, radio deleted what I've seen and other things, but I need to know what you can get on this car, or what you do not want, but all I know is I sure want one, oh my what a car.... Have owned a lot of Mustangs, but not a GT 350 and it's the 5.2 Motor that is what makes this car more awesome, then any other GT 350 before, almost makes a grown man cry, about this car, OMG what a RIDE this would be...... don't get me wrong I love my new 2015 GT 5.0 Premium, but just looking forward, my girl friend just gives me that look, is that good or bad? Thanks John

It turns out to be the reverse. Ford is supplying the car, which is worth MSRP. They write off that amount. The winning bidder writes off the excess amount paid above MSRP [ less auction fees ] which is either donated straight to the charity or passed through Ford to the charity.

Is Ford a contributor to the JDRF through the auction of this car? Or was this a fundraiser event for them?

Either way very cool

FYI ... JDRF = Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
