Hey Everyone,

I’m looking at this 2017 GT350 with only 2800 miles but I have a couple questions/concerns.

On the carfax report it says the battery was replaced at 400 miles and then again at 2100. Are we looking at someone who doesn’t know how to turn lights off/was letting the car sit too long or a potential bigger issue with the alternator here?

These cars come with a crap battery. 390 CCA. I bought my 350 in March as a 19 leftover. It was a showroom queen. Had original battery. Instead of letting Ford put another crap battery in I went out and got a 590 CCA battery.

So moral of the story, go get a 590 CCA battery

I've always had great luck with motorcraft batteries... sucks if this won't be the case with these new ones!

You're missing what I'm saying, but anyway, I went with this battery from Advance Auto. Fits perfect
AutoCraft Gold Battery, Group Size 96R, 590 CCA

Not missing at all.

Edit: yes I did miss your point. Get it now. AutoCraft is a good alternative.

Great, thanks for the tip. I’ll probably just go and get this right away and slap it in

My GT350 is over 4 years old and has the original battery. If you keep them on a trickle charger, they last a very long time. My ‘09 GT500KR battery just died a few months ago. Battery was dated Aug 2008.

My 2017 has the original battery with my car’s date of manufacture of June 2016. I make sure I keep it charged during the winter months when stored.

When replacing the battery on GT350, especially with different configuration, do you need recode the battery to let battery management system (BMS) know of the new battery? I recently replaced battery on my S4(nothing wrong with the battery but it was 9 years old and I didn't want to run on the borrowing time) and recode the new battery.

Like you I have had very good luck with Motorcraft batteries and that was the case with my 2012 Boss 302 that was built on October 26th, 2010 and according to a great friend of mine who is now the custodian of this cool car it still cranks up "PP0002" just fine with him treating OEM batteries with the same diligence as I do.

Not sure what many of you do when your car is being stored or not driven for more than a few weeks at a time or longer but I regularly disconnect the battery to all of my Mustangs and also once disconnected I put a battery tender on it until it is fully charged and then reconnect the battery when I want to drive my car again with that system working very well for me for many decades.

Fortunately I have had a good number of Mustangs and cannot ever remember replacing a Motorcraft battery and suggest that based on how you and I regularly treat them that leads to long lasting life for our OEM batteries.

12 years on a the stock battery? That's incredible.
