Hey Voodoo great project. Talked with my buddy from Roush about this. He mentioned make sure on your new half shafts to put them in correctly. The hi perf half shafts may go in opposite per his conversation with me. Just an FYI. He said this is what the Ford Performance units do. Opposite of stock? Just relaying info.

I made this from uni-strut that can be bought from menards, lowes, Home Depot etc. I had it left over from another project. I was going to just use tubing and weld it all together but I figured I'd use the uni strut and I can take it apart to store it in a cabinet or attic for future use. It only took one 10' piece to make and about 30 - 45 minutes to make. I also used gate pintles for the tops that aligned into the IRS cradle holes that keep it from sliding off. I also added rubber caps and rubber washer to avoid scratching the paint during Re-assembly. Another nice feature is the uni strut allows for adjustments. I'd consider lending it out to a member for a small refundable fee upon return. Or I'll give measurements to anyone interested.

I can't find the ford performance gt350 axle part numbers anymore. Do you know them?

Nice Voodoo! I'm always impressed when people have the knowledge and ambition to tackle something like this.

I have neither, (nor the tools or garage space) so I'll live vicariously through guys like you. :D:cheers:

Just another confirmation, different axle diameter is to help prevent wheel hop. GM started doing this in 2009 in all of their RWD IRS cars with lessons learned in the development of the ZR1 and the aftermarket. I confirmed this with GM engineers I spoke to at a large Camaro event.

Great info Voodoo, love all the weight measurements! Even though I'll probably never change mine, I can appreciate and love knowing information like this :)

Too bad the different diameter axles don't do a better job with wheel hop though. Took my R to the 1/8th mile yesterday for the fun of it, wheel hop like something crazy, no matter what rpm I set LC too. Same thing on the 1-2 shift, lots more of it. Just couldn't get it to hook on a good launch at all, 2.25 60' was best I could manage even with the Sport Cup 2's lowered to 19 psi :(

Launch control is pretty useless. It's a novelty more than a tool. Better off riding out the clutch. Those tires will get into the 1.7s pretty easily if launched smoothly.

Also bump the pressure up, street tires don't do very well that low. You'll end up allowing the middle to sink upwards.

I was cutting consisten 1.8s on MPSS' with a little bit of seat time.

Yeah for sure, going to turn traction control off and not use launch control next time. Best 1/8th mile time was 8.35 at 92.6mph haha so definitely lots of room to improve, thanks for the advice!

You don't happen to have time slips to show of your runs cutting 1.8X 60's do you? Curious what you are hitting in the 1/8th and 1/4!

I'm a GT so I can't directly compare very well. But here's slips of my two best times. Note my low 1/8th mile trap. We've narrowed it down to a likely slipping clutch. It was very inconsistent all night. Street tire launches are really hard on the clutch lol.

Today I started Grinding all the casting flash and smoothing out all the aluminum suspension parts (front steering knuckles, rear knuckles, rear lower control arms, rear diff cover) Once I get them all smooth I'll anodize them in a flat graphite / gun metal grey color similar to the stock gt350 calipers. I'm also going to powder coat the rear IRS and front K member, all misc. brackets, all 4 brake dust shields, all 4 front control arms, rear camber links, in semi gloss black. The R front and rear springs and sway bars in red to match my red R calipers.

Rear knuckle after just 5 minutes with 80 grit. Once I get the casting lines knocked down I'll finish them in 120 grit. After anodize I'll install the new bearings into the arms.
