Voodoo I give you props for having the stones to do this.
Thanks but it's really not that big of a thing to do. I can't seem to leave well enough alone.

Front steering knuckle removed. Next will be removing both control arms, struts, springs, camber plates, front lower control arm bushings and stock calipers.

Have you thought about having the hubs scalloped? I have been considering doing a GT350 Hub and brake swap to get some weight out of the car.

The GT350 front hubs are aluminum as are the knuckles. The non GT350 are cast iron.

Is the hub/unit bearing aluminum and the wheel mounting flange steel? The Mustang hub/unitbearing weighs 6.6 lbs, so there is almost a 3lb delta. But the size difference is very apparent. Which is why I inquired about having them scalloped.

The knuckle counteracts some of the majority of that weight due to the increased robustness from the hub/unit bearing. The mustang knuckle is a tad over 12 lbs, giving it a 3.69 lb delta to the GT350 aluminum one.

Leaving the GT350 with a wider track width, more robust unit bearings, and a total weight savings of 1.38 lbs.

The GT350 rotors are approximately 4lbs lighter per side, with comparable caliper weight and rear weight according to Full Tilt Boogie. But they are very affordable in comparison to other brake setups, that offer reduced rotor mass. I really appreciate the weight information that you are documenting.

The wheel bearing lug flange is of course steel, the only part that's aluminum is the bearing hub body itself. The knuckle is of course aluminum also. I would not scallop the flange for weight reduction as it will also reduce strength and flex. You'd be better off getting a lighter wheel and tire combination. I have Forgeline GA1R open lug wheels which weigh a lot less. About 14 pounds less per wheel at 11x19 with pilot sport cup 2 305/30zr19

Also the cortex front lower control arm bearing is just over 1 pound less then the stock rubber bushing. It's amazing how heavy the stock rubber bushings are. Not to mention the more positive feedback the bearings give along with the more accurate alignment it keeps and goes unchanged.
