Twenty months ago I bought a 3 year old low mileage V6. Never drove a GT. I just wanted a relatively low cost daily commuter that looked good and was a lot more fun to drive than the minivans, SUVs, and sedans I had been driving the past 25 years. I shopped used Ecoboosts, too, but I was wary of reliability and what might have been done to them before they were traded in. (In my subconscious mind I probably knew if I test drove a GT I would want it and spend more money for it, lol.)

I liked my V6 Mustang so much I became more of an enthusiast. I did some mods (exhaust, suspension, wheels/tires). However, I soon discovered that most enthusiasts, at least in my area, drive GTs. I have participated in many meets and cruises usually being the only V6 or Ecoboost there. After being around GTs so often, I decided I WANTED ONE. I pulled the trigger on Memorial Day and now own a '19 GT 400a A10.

Do I regret getting the V6? No. It was a great car and I had fun making it my own. It was perfect for what I originally intended, but as I interacted more with GT owners I realized I was missing the full Mustang experience. If I had known what I do now, I probably would have bought a GT from the beginning.

So I absolutely agree everyone should drive both before deciding.

Yeah this is what I dont get, I know the EB has better weight balance than the GT, but its the same chassis and has the same grip level. I feel like the GT should be able to hold the same lines and lateral G's even if it's less confidence inspiring. In most of these tests the driver may be good but they rarely get a ton of seat time to learn each car's nuance.

Being easier to wring out and drive fast is still an advantage of the EB, but I just don't see how it can be objectively faster in that metric.
It's the same basic chassis, but the V8 car has about an 8% weight penalty and that weight is carried directly over the front tires. You might 'feel' it should just as fast in the corners, but that's not realistic.

I didn’t have to test drive an EcoBoost or v6 to realize I wanted the 5 oh

There is no way its a good idea to have s550 fans that are 5.0 owners and ecoboost owners on the same site. Its just like all the Facebook pages that have 5.0 people, there is no same side, u r either a doushe that have a Mustang that has a 4 cylinder turbo like the coveted CVO or u r a cool person with great taste and has a 5.0.
No point to this discussion, ecoboost cannot win in this environment.

So now this post can die. The End.

That's absolutely not true. I've seen a lot of calm and rational answers on this topic, many of them in favour of the EB. It's been a very civilized discussion so far. I have a feeling you haven't read it entirely.
Now, if you expect GT owners to say "the EB is definitely better, I deeply regret having got a GT, I made a terrible mistake"... that's clearly not going to happen.

And then there was the ecoboost performance pack in 2020 and the debate continued..........just traded my 2018 for one and no regrets. To each his/her own I guess.

There will always be a debate, but as long as it's done in a civilized manner I don't see any problem with it. Quite the contrary, it's beneficial to prospective buyers who don't know what to choose - like this very thread for that matter.
So banishing discussions on this subject on the grounds that "there's no point, the EB cannot win anyway", or even not allowing GT and EB owners on the same site on the grounds that EB owners might get bullied like in Facebook groups, seems a bit extreme to me. I, for one, haven't really seen anything like this on these forums.

Wow, eight whole posts and you’re shutting down threads. Bravo!:)

Seriously though, you should have been on here five years ago. EB owners were treated like shit by 5.0 owners. Much has changed over the past five years. The EB has gained acceptance by many. Heck I started out with an EB before getting my GT/CS.

There is certainly a place on this forum for owners of all S550’s, regardless of what’s under the hood. Now if you do not feel that way, please feel free to start your own EB only forum.

Both great cars. Would love to hear your thoughts about the change.

Those Facebook groups are toxic. These forums are not like that at all. I participated here as a V6 Mustang owner for several months before joining a FB group. When I joined there I couldn't believe how many nice Mustangs seemed to be owned by 14 year old boys.

I recently picked up an EcoBoost 2018 convertible, loaded to the gills with 7600 miles on the odo, single owner bought it in cash and simply upgraded on a whim. I had been debating between the GT and the EB while waiting for the settlement from my totalled VW GTI (also a turbo). I found multiple GTs and EBs in my price range, but I drive 40 miles each way to work (not these days, for obvious reasons). The practical side of me decided the EB was the better choice. I was able to get every feature I wanted, including the convertible top, manual transmission, digital cluster, etc... for 25k out the door.

The handling is amazingly good (especially being convertible), even when coming from a heavily modified little beast like a GTI that carves corners like a hot knife through butter. Plus just like my GTI, I can get pretty good gas mileage when I stay out of boost...just not possible to achieve with the 5.0. Best of both worlds in my opinion. I hear GTs roar past me sometimes and part of me wishes I'd gotten one just for the sheer power, but I absolutely LOVE my EB. No regrets whatsoever.

Seems to me there've been a plethora of good-natured, thoughtful conflicts with regard to GT v EB, but I don't remember anything like what this semi-literate youngster says he saw.

I agree with the "absolutely' sentence; I am a living contradiction to the "not going to happen" part.

My mind is pretty much set and Thank you all very much for your opinion!
To save space, I will be just hitting likes.
For people think this discussion is "pointless", I want to say I personally feel it's very helpful. I PMed some GT owners and they are very knowledgeable, also part of the reason I can't part from Mustang anymore is this wonderful community. I believe this thread should be a resource for all members, and for anyone in the same boat as me.
So thank you again to everyone!
