I don't post much but I gotta vent. I finally decided to up grad my MT82 shifter to a Barton, can't wait. So, I started shopping.

Someone gave me a $25 CJ Pony gift card. This $549 shifter after a 5% discount code, $25 gift card, I hit the total and they charged $22.44 shipping, $14.11 shipping protection and sales tax. Grand total of $572.18.

Went to Lethal, same shifter $549, 10% discount with free shipping and no bulls#!t. Grand total $546.14.

I look at price and free shipping, price maybe cheaper at store A , but they charge shipping, so store B price is a bit more but free shipping and can't get away from tax , and the shipping protection is not needed , IMO .

I will completely unwind any deal if I can't opt out of the "shipping protection." I hate that it is default checked anyway as it shouldn't even be an option. If you run a business based on selling things you ship, you need to account for lost/damage shipping as part of the business model without putting it on me. How do I even know that covers anything or is a fair price? I can't compare it to any other service.

I actually prefer the shipping protection option for larger items. You never know how someone is going to handle that stuff. Smaller or more compact items, not needed IMO. Ford Performance in particular packs all of their items really well, anything that is drop shipped from them I generally have no concerns about damage just due to the quality of packing.

As for OP’s rant, doesn’t seem like much of a rant really. One charges shipping and one doesn’t. Not uncommon. Lethal does charge shipping for certain things as well, so it really just depends on what you buy. I spread the wealth so to speak, I buy from CJPP, Lethal, LMR and Steeda. I bought a couple things for my prior 2016 car from AM, didn’t have great experiences with them. LMR has free shipping on most items over $99, which is really nice (most bulk items they have to charge for freight shipping, but that’s pretty much everyone).

I’ve bought from all of them including CJ Pony and never had an issue with any of them. Generally they’re all in the same ballpark price wise.

Huh, i've never not been able to opt out of shipping protection. This is forced now from CJponyparts? Always seemed like a money grab to me. If you ship me damaged stuff im still gonna come after the guy i bought it from, else a credit card chargeback. Aint paying extra for shipping protection.

I like LMR and using it more nowadays to replenish OEM parts on my car as it ages.

CJ Pony didn't give an option to potty out.
