I really liked my 2002 C5 Z06, and contiplated keeping it and getting the 2015 GT also. But I've come to learn that having too many vehicles becomes a pain with maintenance, upkeep, mods, insurance, etc. Yes, the C5 Z06 was definitely a "raw" sports car and was definitely fun to drive - and would out handle and probably pull away from the GT on a roll.I still have my 2002 ZO6 and love it long time...lol! I had it since 2003 and it doesn't bother me that there are faster ones out there. It will always be faster cars. However, none excite me like the C5 ZO6. It's just so raw! I never been beat by stock mustang. However, I've been beaten my supercharged/NOS 2003 Mach 1. At the end of the day, I don't care. Back then, he went home in his 25ish Mach 1 and I went home in America's first and only true sports car. At $42,000 in 2003, I thought it was a steal!
Why did you sell or trade in yours? Mine has been off for awhile, so just added the S550 to the stable. It's funny reading the comments! I love my S550, but it's a stretch to say it is faster than my C5 ZO6. It's more hilirous to think it can beat a C7. I'm not big on the C7 looks, even the ZO6, but let's be clear! Unless, you are diehard Ford fan, there is no way someone will pick a S550 for track use over a C6 GS, C6 ZO6, C7, or C7 Stringray. If want to argue, performance per dollar, sadly you can get a 02-04 ZO6 for high teens to low 20's and add minor mods and walk the crap out of any S550 GT. I'm not losing any sleep over the S550, and I have one.
Let's just be clear, a S550 is pleasure to drive, but it is not a Corvette. My C5 ZO6 is a go cart compared to my 2015 GT PP.
But after driving the GT I felt like it was time to have a sports car that was more of a daily driver and had more of the luxury sports car feel. I semi-regreted letting the Z06 go since it was in perfect condition and had low miles, but I'm enjoying the new GT and over-all it will be a better suited car for me at this point.
