The '14 Vette is a phenomenal sports car, especially for the money. I choose Mustang, though, because the '15 GT will still be a great "sports car", but more space and cheaper.

A stock Corvette will easily outperform a stock Mustang GT every day of the week. Easily. I don't understand the need to cross shop them.

If you want to approach Corvette levels of performance you need to step up to the SVT Mustangs, and even then you're fighting weight and suspension issues.

JMO, but you don't buy a Mustang because it's the best sports car on the road. It isn't, and never will be. You buy a Mustang because it's a Mustang, and it makes you happy.

I could have bought a C7 instead of my GT500. Without a doubt the C7 is the better car, but the raw power of the GT500 is what appeals to me.

-always been the position of the mustang vs. Corvette.

C7 is an amazing car and I expect the 15 mustang to also be a great leap forward in refinement, ride quality, materials, and performance.

Totally different cars. Cant go wrong with either. I think the Stang is in general more versatile and a suitable for touring. If you have kids it's a no brainer.

The Vette is a dedicated sports car if you already have more than one car and especially comes to life if you track a lot. I love both. I prefer the looks of the S550 more, that is also because I like the 'muscle car/GT' look more than that of a low slung to seat coupe. The Vette is faster, period. The higher end Mustangs will always suffer from more weight (again, its a different type of car) than the Vette.

They have come a long way in refinement, fit finish, handling and interiors. The common thing that unites them is they are incredible value for money that kicks the ass of cars costing double, they are passionate cars (cant quite describe this), have a ton of personality and finally, a lot of heritage - and of course both are VERY fast!
