If you had an auto you might have been closer! The corvette is faster but it shouldn't destroy you or leave you like you are sitting there! Next time put the switch on the track mode and run on high rpm low gear just in case they gun it lol

Vettes can be very fun when some hot shot kid is driving his dad's car. First month I owned mine a kid pulled up with me on the line in a '14 stingray and barely pulled ahead from my stock GTPP in a nice 0-75. Rear of his car was just barely even with my mirrors. I miss timed my shift to second or I may have actually had him.

I really like the C7 and you can't beat it for the price. They did a lot for what they are asking for it.
It's def an insane value for what it is performance wise. The interior is pretty decent as well (not great, but def pretty nice).

raced this z06....gave him a head start and took him down easy and left him in the side mirror

kidding of course....but he did say nice car at the stop light right before that...told him I'd trade him and he laughed. was a fat old man....one day i want to be rich too :D
LOL!!!!!

I agree. It's faster for sure, but not THAT much faster. Perhaps its the gears in 3.55 or the fact that the Vette was an auto 8spd.

Vettes and Lambo's...

My brother-in-law used to own a Lambo. He was cruising at a fair speed in New Mexico on part of the Interstate which is flat and straight for a lot of miles.
A Vettte came up to him and and wanted to play. The Vette took off and he waited until it was just a speck. He then punched it and quickly passed the Vette. He pulled off at the next rest stop and waved as the Vette passed by.

I actually think the C7 is way too busy IMO. The Mustang has much better lines and pleasing to the eyes. I had a C7 and sold it cause I could not warm up to the looks.
Look how high the rear end is compared to a 67 Vette
I sold it back in jan 2014 while it was still hot and did not get burned to bad. Had I sold it today I'd lost $10K
Looks strange, I do notice the high rear end now that you mention it. Not nice. The other red Vette OTOH looks gorgeous.

Talking about a high rear end, the S197 suffered from that too. The updated tail light assembly was cool, but that car had too high a rear end and hood.

Depends on the Vette and Lambo model. I'm pretty sure the C7Z06 is faster than most Lambos (perhaps not out of a dig due to AWD), esp in the scenario you mention.

The C6Z06 is likely very quick as they are a lot lighter than Lambos with more torque. The C6 ZR1 set lap records at Laguna Seca and other tracks.
Some lambos may have a higher top end (by 10mph or so), as the Vette's aero is designed for downforce and track work. Vette's (all versions) destroy Car and Drivers Lightning Lap - Lambo's do OK.

Heck, even the Camaro Z28 matched some exotic Ferrari's time in lighting lap 2014.

Perhaps it was a base C5 Vette. I'm not even a Vette guy but I'll defend their prowess.

Had a gentleman in a C7 give me the proverbial "Thumbs up" yesterday when I was just driving about town and was stopped at a four way intersection opposed to him. Where the C7 looks so aerodynamically clean and fast just standing still, the new Mustang looks like a roadster that just wants to pulverize the road and anything that crosses it's path into submission!

I dont know about "embarrassed" The 5.0 will hold its own with a C7.

Also remember that the C7 is only rated at 15hp more, but much more importantly is 500 pounds lighter at approx 3300 pounds. It's also $15-20,000 more expensive.

Dollar for dollar you can get a lot more performance out of the Mustang. For under $10k you can wipe the floor with a C7.

The Torque difference is 60 lbft, which gives you the acceleration! Hp comes into account for top speed!

Dump the floor mats and manual bro!!!!! Whats wrong with you?

LOL. A stock PP GT is going to lose to a C7. Those trap at 116-117, the GTPP traps at 112-114. It wont get DESTROYED, but it will lose. The gap will be worse if the Vette is an automatic!

There is nothing wrong with losing to a C7. It's a different kind of car. I think a GT PP (Shorter gears) with tune/intake/exhaust will hang in there in a straight line. Throw a race track in and the Mustang will likely lose in all variants. I doubt the GT350 will hang in there but lets see. Vette's are some of the fastest track cars you can buy. Period.

Still dont want one!
I think the 350 can hang with the c7 on a track if not beat it. Now if we are talking about a Z06 that's a different story.

Possible. Let's wait and see. I have tremendous respect for the 6th gen and 7th gen Vette's as track cars and straight line monsters.

However, as far as looks, interior, package, practicality and 'fun to drive' goes - to me the new Mustang wins hands down, factoring in price the story gets even better. Even the S197 was a fun car to drive in Coyote form. Vette's dont excite me for some reason but tremendous cars with a long and proud heritage, just like our Stangs.

Hell, my M5 outruns the Vettes (not had a Z06 to compare though).
It's not about straight line drags. That's so 'ricer'. These S550's have finally made the Mustang a good road course car where drive skill dwarfs HP and straight line "stop light racer" stuff.

I will be very interested in pricing and performance on the GT350. I will be comparing it to a base C7. If the 'vette is a lot better I might go that way. I think they are cool. Yes the new style is a little "boy racer", but I really like it. They were so boring for so long! The late 60s was the last really good looking corvette in my opinion.
