For you guys already running the DV+, does it still open while cruising at part throttle like the factory bpv? I already ordered one today from Adam, but was curious about this.

While ordering you should of had a look at the description ;) haha.

This adapts to your factory BPV, no need to change anything. Unbolt, swap springs, and reassemble!

  • Uses factory solenoid coil for seamless integration
Replaces plastic valve parts with metal for reliability and strength on chipped engines
Direct-fit replacement with GFB’s TMS benefits
Exclusive “pilot-actuated” valve mechanism for rapid response at high boost

The DV+ (cool name ) re-uses the factory BPV solenoid and changes the plunger system and spring so it can handle high pressure without the slow response time of a mechanical BOV. Great for stock frame turbo upgrade guys that are retaining the stock BPV.

This will also have benefits for stock turbo guys just looking for and upgrade. These do make a difference in your everyday driving by reducing the amount of "open" time the stock BPV has. Even though the solenoid might be open, pressure in the charge pipe has to overcome the newly added second plunger (piston) spring. So even if your BPV wants to open during cruising, the piston will still be closed allowing for less venting that a lot of people are annoyed by, and quicker throttle response.

The valve will open when the solenoid is actuated by the ecu. What it does prevent is it from opening under boost when it's supposed to be closed. If the ecu were to command it open during that situation, I believe it will still ope if commanded. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Boost pressure will have to overcome the second plunger spring that gets installed with the DV+. Even if the factory BPV is open but boost pressure is below X-psi it will stay closed. However the spring pressure isn't great, so it still opens as it should when you let off the throttle.

Has anyone gone back and removed the spring to see how it reacts compared to the stock valve set-up?

Just since that spring says optional

So I have had this on my car for a week now, and it does exactly as I would have expected, when I go to accelerate the initial lag is minuscule due to the valve being shut, on my auto I find the standard drive mode more enjoyable now, I did not expect anything more than that, it does hold boost better too just as advertised. Im holding off on tune for the time being so this does help in my opinion

An FYI for all who have this adapter on their cars for a while, make sure to re-lube the piston about every 6 months as I was getting major compression surge last night with the high humidity here in the NE. This time I used white lithium grease spray instead of engine oil. Hopefully that will last longer.
