Phew, that price tag. How much HP do the aluminators typically hold? Can't imagine it being a better route from a performance standpoint vs building one if you have a local shop unless they hold over 1000RWHP.

The build in the link comes with aftermarket pistons, rods and oil pump gears....I'd say the aluminator is still at the limits of stock sleeves.

Well it's a gen 3 aluminator, so it uses the gen 3 block with the sprayed plasma sleeves, not the press in like the gen 1 and 2 blocks. Also, for the price you are getting a gen 3 coyote crate engine with 460 hp just like what comes in an 18+ GT that has been upgraded to include mahle forged pistons, manley H beam rods with ARP 2000 rod bolts and billet OPG's. They come in two versions, stock 12:1 compression or lower 9.5:1 for boosted applications.

BTW, the bone stock gen 3 coyote crate engine plucked right off the assembly line lists for $9500, so for roughly 3K more you get forged internals. All pre-assembled, ready to run. Also, the aluminators come off the niche line, the same guys that builds the GT 350 and 500 engines.

I'm curious to know why they don't advertise HP and TQ figures for this NA aluminator, they advertise it for the 5.2.

Was browsing the ford racing site and in the new parts released in the last 30 days the have a gen 3 aluminator listed in both supercharged and N/A versions. The also have the new 7.3

I have been waiting to see what they would be asking .
Typically you should be able to buy retail for less than that MSRP .

I just had a long block built to almost same specs except I used the much more stronger Gen 3 /5.2 block/Voodoo pistons (also Mahle )and upgraded the valve springs in all new heads /ARP head studs instead of bolts .

Mine is a long block vs a complete engine (I do have the intake off my stock motor - has a whipple “intake” now )
I can assure you it’s much cheaper to have one built by a reputable shop .

lots of cheaper options .
I also scored a used low mileage Gen 3 long block for $3500
I am rebuilding it to the same EXACT specs as the Gen 3 Alluminator except will be using the stronger H tuff rods /ARP head studs and upgrading the valve springs .
The piston/rod combo was bought during Black Friday sale for about $1400.
Let’s just say for the MSRP of the Alluminator I built 2 much better long blocks .
Would be even cheaper if I used my stock lokg block but I have bigger plans for that one when I swap it out (sleeves /I beam upgrade - even considering a stroker ).

Forged internals are good, was hoping for something more though above stock. Bump the compression up a bit for this engine and require higher octane fuel (91/93 minimum vs 87 minimum), performance camshafts vs the stock camshafts, lighter block... seems Ford really maxed out the Gen III to the limit of their comfort zone.

Doesn't the stock Gen3 come with forged pistons and rods too? Not Mahle, but read on a technical document somewhere on this forum that they were forged too. Curious if true now :).

And another question for those 'Aluminator' engines: Do they do the same nasty noises as the stockers (2K rattle and 'tick')? Thx.

Definitely not “forged “ in the true sense
Rods might be “sinster” forged bur look like tooth licks compared to the Manley rods . Pistons are not forged in anyway .

I know of someone who has the first one of the assembly line so will be interesting to see if he has issues with the tick .

And the 2K rattle, which is there since day 1. The tick might appear later on. The rattle is more annoying, so ask him on that too :D. Thx.

Care to share some of those options? I've been looking at a forged short block for a while now and still can't find anything even remotely cheaper than an Aluminator short block.
See posts below

you can have a short block built starting with the stronger Gen 3 /predator /5.2 block , stronger internals (H - tuff instead of the Manley H rods )for less than the cost of an Alluminator short block .

Ok but it still doesn't say what shop it is or how much it cost.

All the major ones I've talked to (MPR, RG, L&M, Livernois etc.) are more than what an equivalent Aluminator is. Alot of them even advertise their lower end budget stuff as "Aluminator clones".
