You need to get with the times on PCM tuning and how far electronics have come

We dont buy PCMs you hook a laptop or handheld scanner and load tunes into it.

Most people data log and send the info back and forth to whatever tuner they choose to dial in the car.

Cars now days can be "remote" tuned and all you need to do is upload the tune into the car.

 at this post.

I'm currently running a Ford Performance tune and it works great. Simple plug and play. The nice thing about FP tunes is that there's no need for data-logging or further dialing in because it was fully engineered/tested and even goes with the factory warranty (what a concept). But if you do run a tune that needs to be dialed-in further I get that too, not rocket science armstrong.

HOWEVER, It would only make sense that FP would offer the tune to their crate motor to fully guarantee their performance and back up all the press generated by the product release data. After all, it is their product and that's what they do right?

I have no idea why its so hard for you to comprehend the crate engine is offered without a pcm.

Should Ford offer it as a FRPP stage 10 package crate engine and pcm or something with a tune for the S550 like the FRPP stage 1, 2, and 3 packages? Would that make you happy?

Is it shocking to you Ford also offers NA and SC Cobra Jet crate engines WITHOUT a PCM too?

I swear Ford does goes leaps and bounds farther to support the aftermarket and enthusiast communities but yet youre complaining they dont offer an off the shelf plug and play PCM to use this crate engine in a S550?

Whats next complain the 2018s have a 10 speed transmission so Ford should offer a transmission and controller package thats plug and play for the 2015-2017 S550s?

LOL thats indeed one Id like to see myself but Im 100% confident someone will figure out how to make the swap exactly the same way tuners can easily make the 5.2 FRPP crate engine work in whatever you want to put it in.

I get it and not complaining BTW. From a marketing perspective it would make sense to offer the tune. Which would rake in way more dollars. Do you not see that?

I build brands for a living. I see an obvious hole in their marketing and product plannng strategy. Maybe you don't see it that's why your acting like a troll. :tsk:

What hole? You act like this engine cant be used in a S550. There are more tuners than I can count that could make that engine work in a S550 very easily.

Are you expecting to be able to run that engine with a warranty? Is that the disconnect here?

Why would Ford invest the time and resources to offer a tune for both auto and manual cars when thats clearly already covered by countless tuners?

Scared a tuner would somehow destroy the engine? Then find a competent tuner.

Should zero parts be offered by Ford simply because they dont come with a factory backed tune? That type of logic you are implying here sure seems like it would instantly put the brakes to any further FRPP development by Ford.

What happens if someone puts a Cobra Jet intake or a Boss intake manifold on a S550 both of which require a tune and neither are plug and play?

I guess according to you since Ford doesnt offer a plug and play calibration for those intakes they shouldnt offer them?

Heres my point. Not everyone needs Ford to suit every conceivable combination or for Ford to hold their hand every step of the way.

99.99% of the community is thankful Ford offers as much as they do and offer an entire FRPP/Roush catalog above and beyond what rolls off the assembly line in a production Mustang.

You apparently dont think thats enough..........

Another Note this engine and the 2015-2017 S550 is already outdated considering the 2018s have a gen3 Direct injected engine and new 10 speed transmission.

Good luck convincing Ford they should dump money into developing a tune for this crate engine when theyve already moved on to a newer engine and transmission.

Lol apparently you don't see it...

1. They offer an engine.
2. They have the tune (because they tested it). - No extra investment needed.
3. They don't sell said tune with engine. - That's the hole

Turnkey solutions sell. Pretty simple ...

Very thankful this is offered.

I would seriously consider this for a future mod if I could do it all in my garage. I'm not looking for a warranty or your BS. Just a viable solution as this should be for the amount of coin being spent.:headbonk:

I'm over it.

Holy hell guy.

Buy engine bolt it into car.

Call Lund or anyone else give them the code on your PCM wait for them to send you a file load it into car.

Drive car be happy.

I guess thats too complicated..... LOL

Edit on 2nd thought you are obviously wayyyyyy better off dropping your car off and having a FRPP/Roush blower installed that way your warranty would still be intact and you wouldnt have to complain about the lack of provided calibration plus the FRPP/Roush blower kit would cost way less than this crate and make way more HP too.

Problem solved your welcome.

I see your point. I think the reason they don’t is for reliability and R&D. While these motors were tested for their rated power, they aren’t as heavily tested like the power packs for reliability like testing st different altitudes and octanes. Due to the nature of the work required to swap engines, Ford Perf assumed this is for more veteran tuner use/install and didn’t bother with a tune for everyone.
