Saw some threads about accidents felt like posting mine. Pickup hauling a big camper switched lanes in the shittiest area possible, causing his campers stairs to grab my front end and tear it, other driver is trying to claim I switched lanes into him(wish I had a dash cam now, I was going straight) This happened on Thursday(4/15), was able to drive it home and insurance set up tow for Friday. Tow was supposed to take it to shop but they bullshited claiming it was closed(they weren’t) so it sat at tow yard until following Wednesday. Should be picking up in next couple days 6/10/21. Almost two months later, can’t wait to pick it up, already have a new intake manifold for it and some new interior pieces to put in it. Any tips on what to look out for would be appreciated when picking up my car(look for gaps/paint matches). Waiting to see what all they replaced with new or used items. My wheel had got all scratched up but they just machined it. Right now estimate is at 10.5k

Ouch. Yes check panel gaps, over spray, orange peel the usual suspects.

damn, only 10.5k? that's hella cheap compared to where I live lol -- also how many miles did you have on it?

check panel gaps, paint match as you said and ensure these other areas/parts were repaired correctly if they were damaged: subframe rail, frame sidemember horn, front bumper support, fender aprons and rails, driver motor mount, and/or spindle/other suspension. Personally, I'd also want to make sure they documented frame dimensions were in factory spec (probably would want to make sure wheel caster/alignment is okay as well).

Pretty much what others said but I'll include to sooner than later make sure the windshield is still sealed in that area so no water leaks in.

Interesting they only quoted $10.5k damage. I got into an accident a few weeks ago and had damage similar to yours (at least externally) and got quoted nearly $30k. Although, my accident was a T-bone collision so a different mechanism, but it does appear visually similar to yours minus airbags.

Damn sorry to see your car like that. I’ll post what the final invoice looks like when I get it. Yea I was lucky the airbags didn’t go off, and I was also surprised the cost isn’t higher which Is why I want to see what parts were new or used

Don't sign any paperwork or take the car until you have gone over the whole car from top to bottom. Make sure you're looking at it in bright daylight, not in the shade or when it's getting dark. Open the door, hood and make sure each close without issues. Gaps should be just as equal as the passenger side of the car in those same areas.

Ask to take the car on a drive with all HVAC and stereo off and listen for anything out of the ordinary (rattles, etc), see how it tracks for alignment - if something is strange, make note of it to be fixed.

Thanks man - Insurance paid me more than what I paid for it just 6 months prior and was able to find a fully loaded pp1 for a reasonable deal. So in the end, everything worked out

Update 6/11
Picked it up yesterday, included pictures of invoice. They reused some parts from my hood and front bumper grilles. The roush emblem was a little crooked on the fenders but they are going to redo those. Sounded and handled good on ride home.
