main reason I sold all of my bikes... damn deer DGAF and they are so stupid so I decided to live rather than have fun on 2 wheels anymore
I hit one on a bike six years ago this week....if you survive, you don't forget it. Full gear saved me, but I was still pretty banged up and had a hell of a concussion regardless. I still ride, but never around dusk or dawn or at night anymore. Not worth it.

I say kill 'em all. They are delicious.

What a shame.....perfectly good, tenderized venison left on the side of the road.

You would have felt much better after hanging him from a tree and gutting him. At least I did with that stupid kid that ran into my car.

Got the estimate today $5500. The insurance company refuses to replace the hood and fender, they said they could be repaired. I know the hood and fender can be repaired but I don't like it. All I can say is it better be perfect or I won't accept it and we will be going rounds.

I was expecting gory pictures like on This thread! Didn't see blood or fur on the car, so I'm guessing the deer limped away from this one (They are tough as hell actually) to die of internal injuries in the woods. My Ex wife hit one in her car really bad nearly wrote off the car. Game warden called later and said they followed the blood trail over half a mile before the found the thing.

This is one of my biggest fears for my beloved stang because where I live, we are literally overrun with deer. A lady that goes to my church was driving home late from work a few nights ago and said about midnight there was a herd, not just one, standing in my front yard. I have been lucky and hope it holds out. OP, I hope you can get yours fixed right. Insurance companies just look out for themselves and try to get out as cheap as they can. If it isn't right, stick to your guns and make them fix it to your satisfaction.

And I'll add, make sure the underside of the hood is repaired as new also. Last thing you want is to open the hood and see where the sheet metal was hammered on.
I wish them luck. These hoods are some very thin aluminum. But I see their point. It is something like a $2500 hood. Aftermarket could be making bank with even a stock replacement fiberglass hood.

ScottsGT,

I thought the hoods actually feel pretty substantial. They have some weight and thickness to them to me.

I gotta say though, for how hard the animal hit your car it seems to have held up quite well. On my Toyota it would've blown a hole through to the other side lol.

The outer skin of the hood does seem pretty thin, when i wash the car the hood flexs pretty easily.

Yeah I guess overall it took the lick pretty good. I'm just glad I didn't center punch the deer, that would have probably torn the car all to hell and possibly come in the windshield.

Bummer dude. I've been very fortunate over the years never to have been hit (knock on wood). Had a few close calls. I notice your sig shows an aftermarket exhaust. In my F150 with the magnaflow cat-back I always had deer freeze or run away, never toward. I felt that "loud pipes save lives" [the deer's].

You're lucky it doesnt look too terrible- trust me.

Back about 10 years ago I hit a couple hundred pound deer in Michigan when I was living there going 75 on the highway in the pitch dark. Why the deer was on the highway who knows.

Crushed the whole front of the car- headlights, bumper, support, radiator, hood bent up side mirror gone and scratched all down the side of the car. Its was an old Oldsmobile Alero but still; your damage looks way way less than mine was and the car was fixable.

You'd be surprised these days how many dents they can pull out and just repaint that panel. Hard to tell from the pics but the hood may be salvageable. I doubt the door is- looks too warped. Need a headlight. Your front bumper and passenger quarter is tough to tell from a pic. I dont see any damage though (not paint but damage). the bumper is off to the left of the headlight but obviously cant tell if the clips broke or it just popped out.

How did the door get messed up? Sorry man! I'd at least kicked the deer while it was down.
