So as the title says, I'm kinda freaking out. This morning while I was driving past the Mustang (since I still use the GTi as my DD) I noticed something weird.

At the bottom of the front bumper, just between the fog lights and the edge of the bumper, there's a gap. It's on both sides of the front. Is this a panel alignment problem? Or these are vents to cool the brakes? Someone confirm please if you have these on your cars.

Aero vents. All is well.

(edit: they're designed to carry air from that area out past the wheels to reduce drag.)

Thanks! I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to performance cars, and even though I thought they looked like functional vents, I was still freaking out since I wasn't sure.

BTW I found this diagram published by Ford explaining the Aero Curtains and how they work.

I keep meaning to strap a go pro to the front grill (facing inward) so I can see the active shutters open and close. Maybe this weekend......

What's odd is on my GT (non PP), those slots are blocked by black foam rubber pieces. Noticed this when I was washing the car the other day.

Ohhh haha. I thought about poking them out but then was like wait... they must be blocked for a reason. Figured maybe it was because I have the 20" wheels.

I wonder why they come blocked from the factory. Weird.

Hmmm... I wonder if these "air curtains" were only blocked off from the factory for the 20" wheels... and if so, why exactly?
